Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again Lyrics

Oh, the ragman draws circles
Up and down the block
I'd ask him what the matter was
But I know that he don't talk
And the ladies treat me kindly
And furnish me with tape
But deep inside my heart

    this is just another compiling of funny thoughts and a few obscure ones thrown in to try and confuse us! eg;
    Granpa died last week/ now he's buried in the rocks
    Everyone still talks about/ how badly they were shocked
    But me i expected it to happen/ when i seen him lose control
    He uh lite a fire on Main Street/ and shot it full of holes.
    it's a song along the lines of Black Diamond Bay funny lines that tell a story only dylan knows but keeps us guessing. who is this person? who is Granpa? what does the Greek want to hang himself for? sometimes dylan throws a line into a non serious song just because it rhymes. that's why he's dylan

    its referring to his struggles changing from folk to rock n roll music, he is stuck inside of Mobile (a town known for folk music) with the Memphis (rock n roll) blues again. Something to take into consideration though is that he switches words around a lot in the song like punch my cigarette and smoke my eyelid, so maybe he is stuck inside of Memphis now with the Mobile blues
