Songs about Jesus

You don't mess with the Jesus! Wait, that was The Big Lebowski. This is the other Jesus (at least we think so), the one in the Bible. Now, you don't have to be Christian or Catholic to believe in Jesus. You don't even have to be Muslim, and yes, Jesus is mentioned in the Quran as well. But regardless of your beliefs, Jesus (or at least the concept of Jesus) is one of history's most influential figures. Nations have gone to war in his name, or against his name. The world's most powerful and richest country prints his Daddy's name right on the cash. If you count all churches and cathedrals, he might be responsible for more non-residential buildings than any other purpose.

These songs all have different approaches to Jesus, which is a refreshing note of authenticity, since one's relationship with one's chosen religious ideal should be individual and personal. What would Jesus think of all these songs, or what does he think? Perhaps honored, or at least flattered. And these popular songs are certainly better listening than those stuffy old hymns they sing in woody-pewed churches.
