Celine Dion - Immortality Meaning

Song Released: 1998
Immortality Lyrics
And this is all I know
And I must choose to live
For all that I can give
The spark that makes the power grow
And I will stand for my dream if I can
Symbol of my faith in who I am
But you are my only
And I must follow...
-
For me, Its about being torn apart between his/ her one and only love and his/her dreams. However, realizing he / she cant have both at the same time. Realizing that all that has life will die, decided to put his / her dream first. But, he / she asks for immortality so that he / she can be with her love afterwards. Hence the lyrics
"Cause I have found a dream that must come true
Every ounce of me must see it through
But you are my only
I'm sorry I don't have a role for love to play
Hand over my heart I'll find my way
I will make them give to me
Immortality"
Then the coda.." With all my love for you
And what else we may do
We don't say, goodbye"
He / she doesn't want to sive up either of the two. Therefore, asked for immortality.
"Hand over my heart I'll find my way
I will make them give to me...
IMMORTALITY" -
What it means to me is that the protagonist must choose between their lover and their dreams. Also, they realize that although they and the person they love are on separate paths and even after death, they will never be apart.
