Dog Days Are Over Lyrics

Happiness / hit her / like a train on a tra-ck
Coming towards her / stuck still / no turning ba-ck
She hid around corners / and she hid under beds /
She killed it with kisses and from it she fl-ed /
With e-very bubble she sank with a drink...

My interpretation is more solace in the sense that she was in a good relationship but it didn't last because she tried so hard into. And now she is starting to get over with that part of her life and in a way she is being reborn but even better. But she unlike before she is going after and is catching up with everyone else.

I believe this song to be about children in africa on their daily 5 mile commute to get water. On their way they come across a streaker who tries to still their water. He also has a dog. The children run fast to protect the family's water. On the run the dog dies as a result of the horse trampeling it, hense the name dog days are over.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

I agree, Dog Days does mean hard times, but they are saying that the bad times are over, so don't keep running from love.

I interpret to her running away from love and relationships. She use to fear that she would end up hurt or hurting others therefore she would "run". But in this song it says how she is happy and she is no longer scared of love.

"Dog Days" mean difficult times, so i think it means that the hard times are over and she needs to run back to her family, but there is more difficulty on the way there.

I think its a slave running from her "master", because its saying "run for your mother, father, etc. leave all your loveing behind, you cant carry it with if you want to survive", if you want to be free you cant worry about what you left, then it says "the horses are coming" as in she is being chased by her "master" and then "the dog days are over" as in the days of her being a salve are done, she's not a dog anymore.

I think that this song is about running from love, no matter how many times it follows you. The verses compare love/happiness to being hit by a train and a bullet unexpectedly. But the fact that it is equated with a bullet and a train shows that "she" considers love/happiness to be dangerous (maybe even death-like).

When the song says "And I never wanted anything from you except everything you had and what was left over after that too," I believe it means that "she" has tried relationships before, but ended up running away and inadvertently crushing the other's heart and so on.

However, I can't figure out why a dog and horses are used in the chorus.

The stagnant, boring days, are through. Happiness, joy is here and came from out of the blue. She tried to hide from love, but it caught up with her.
