Sit Next To Me Lyrics
-
Heard this for the first time in 2021 sitting at a Sonics waiting on food on February 27th. So, yeah...I'm late to this 'catchy' tune. Whatever. Anyway, its about two people who've met and had a fling in the past. Singers at an after-party surrounded by groupies. Call it what you want. Call it a one-night stand. But 'he' sees her out of the crowd of sycophants. Anyway, reading between the lines, the two do their "business" and go different ways. He feels rotten. He sees her later, she knows him, is involved with someone else, but she acts (push((es) right through) by him) like she don't have time for him. They keep passing by each other (she avoiding him) in life. But he caught feelins' and highly remembers their rendezvous and about to pour out his feelings to her! Second bar of song: Her current squeeze she's currently involved with is neglecting her and their relationship's hanging on a string (ie, he's outlined in chalk). Singer knows this. She and singer are at a house party or club. She should be with her man fixing relationship, but she at the party/club instead. Singer says she thinks he should be consoling her in her failing relationship (ie, intervention), but that ain't happening. Forget all that, just come over and sit next to me and lets have an innocent chat and see what happens.

To me this song is about two people who want to try to be together but there’s something in the way. Work, exes, ruining the current friendship, current relationships, ect.
