Gloria Gaynor: I Will Survive Meaning

I Will Survive Lyrics
Kept thinkin' I could never live without you by my side

And so you're back from outer...

With many different scenarios that could correlate with this song, one that resonates most with me is moving on after a breakup with a narcissist. The “you’re back from outer space” lyric suggests that the narcissist wants back in her life again. One can argue that Gloria has known that he was “alien” to empathy and true love toward her. Because there is no permanent discard with a narcissist, she finds the strength within her to put a stop to any attempts the narcissist has to continue the cycle of abuse. She says “I’m saving all my lovin’ for someone who’s loving me.” Everyone who has been in relationships with narcissists should do the same! Such an empowering song!
