It is the perfect song to explain what it’s like to live with severe PTSD from being in combat. The line “Taking me so far away from home and turning me into someone I’ve never known” is what it is like when you come home and realize that you’re never going to be who you were ever again.

It’s about getting clean,trying to move on in a relationship (girlfriend/boyfriend, parents, siblings or other type of relationship. It specific tells how many times the ones that are closest to us hold deep animosity or just don’t know how to act reasonably when we are not getting high..... it also expresses another tough hurdle on the road to recovery—. The ones closest to you not winning to accept you in a new role. A sober individual.
