I think this song is kinda like the aftermath of bad things or like war veterans with the lyrics "someday we will fight again your tragedys your enemies broken glass and rusty chains where the hell is the old gang". this could also be taken about how green day becoming a massive hit had him losing friends from the local punk sceen in california and how ajusting was difficult.
