Omerta Lyrics

Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward. Whoever cannot take care of himself without that law is both. For a wounded man shall say to his assailant, "If I Live, I will kill you. If I Die, You are forgiven."...

As I read all these interpretations it's astounding the way most can't see past their own pathetic lives and associate the lyrics to criminal activity or the mafia, or organized crime in general... pitiful.
The underlying theme is simply the difference of being an honest, honorable person regardless of the consequences or being a little bitch. We've all had people lie to us. We've had people call cops on us for no reason. We've all had people mad-dog us solely out of ego then cry like a child and ask for the help of others when it backfires. The point made here is the writer accepts the outcome of a one on one situation whether it be life or death. If a man can accept death with honor, he lives forever.

My interpretation of this song is pretty much the same thing about the mafia interpretation but i feel that instead of the singer singing about the mafias omerta that he is instead talking about his own omerta

Someone have made pretty much comprehensive lyric interpretation here, which is very helpful. Though, I have my own interpretation for a couple part of the lyric as alternatives.

"Six feet under with no marker" means that the snitch is buried (that is, 6 feet under), and left forgotten (without tomb or something to mark who is buried there for memorial).

"Your laughing finger will never point again" means that the snitch is murdered and cannot blame (point his finger) on someone else anymore.

This song is mostly about the betrayal of Jesus. Judis snitched on something or someone, in return for Judis' death, 30 slivers of silver. Omerta means code of silence, which also means, keep your mouth shut.

I will break it down piece by piece, because it is more easily understood that way.(I will put the meanins in parentheses after the sentence). Also, you have to understand that the singer is talking as if he is in the Mafia and that he is talking to someone.

Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward. Whoever cannot take care of himself without that law is both. For a wounded man shall say to his assailant, "If I Live, I will kill you. If I Die, You are forgiven." Such is the Rule of Honor.
(This line, which is an opener,is the "Rule of Honor". This was probably created by Lamb of God. It is the "Law" as to Honor. The literal meaning is; A code of silence about criminal activity and a refusal to give evidence to authorities. This is commonly used by the Mafia. You will understand its meaning as the song goes on.)

Broken the paradigm an example must be set.
Invoke the Siren's song and sign the death warrant.
This is what has been wrought for 30 pieces of silver.
The tongues of men and angels bought by a beloved betrayer. ("Broken the paradigm an example must be set" (paradigm is a pattern), so the pattern has been broken and an example must be set. "Invoke the Siren's song and sign the death warrant" means bring "him"(a snitch) to me and I will make a death warrant on him. "This is what has been wrought for 30 pieces of silver" means that if you kill the "snitch" he will give you 30 pieces of silver. "The tongues of men and angels bought by a beloved betrayer" means that a "snitch"(the beloved betrayer) has caused the singer to buy people to kill him <-- That is actually very loosly translated.)

I am the result, what's better left unspoken.
Violence begins to mend what was broken.
You've been talking, I've been all ears..( "I am the result, what's better left unspoken" means that the singer is possibly "bad", so he is litteraly the result of something is is better left alone or not to be talked about. "Violence begins to mend what was broken" means that the snitch who ratted out the singer is getting beaten up. " You've been talking, I've been all ears" means that the singer knows that the snitch has ratted him out.)

Words meant to dwell in darkness shall never see the light of day.
Words can be broken so can bones, execute the mandate.
Mouth full of dirt your name is removed from the registry.
St. Peter greets with empty eyes then turns and locks the gate. ("Words meant to dwell in darkness shall never see the light of day" means that someone has let out something that should have been kept secret. "Words can be broken so can bones, execute the mandate" means that the "snitches" words can be wiped out and so can he, and the mandate part means that people will be out to kill him."Mouth full of dirt your name is removed from the registry" means that the "snitch" is kicked out of the gang or mafia(what ever the case is) and this happend because he snitched on them. "St. Peter greets with empty eyes then turns and locks the gate" this loosly means that "Death" is greeting you with "sadness" and he is locking you in the after life(which could possibly be hell, etc.)

I am the result, what's better left unspoken.
Violence begins to mend what was broken.
You've been talking, I've been all ears.
Omerta.(Same as the earlier one, except Omerta appears, which is to state that the "Law" exsist and has been broken.)

    Cheaply venal, stupidly verbose.
A slip of the tongue, a slit of the throat.
Six feet under with no marker.
Keep my name from your mouth forever.
Free speech for the living, dead men tell no tales.
Your laughing finger will never point again.
    Omerta.
    Omerta.
    Sing for me now.
(This is where someone probably let out some information, which suggest the stupidly verbose and slip of the tongue. Then that person gets killed, which is suggested by "slit of the throat", so they will not "spill the beans". "Six feet under with no marker" means that the person killed was killed in private, possibly by the Mafia. "Keep my name from your mouth forever" means that if that person snitches on that person he will kill him. "Free speech for the living, dead men tell no tales" means that you can say what you want, but you will be killed and not be able to say anymore. "Your laughing finger will never point again" means that he will be killed. Then Omerta x 2 is just saying "The Code" and "Sing for me now" means that he is dead and he is saying "sing for me now" to say in an almost ironical way that he is dead, but he is like haha spill the beans now.

Basically what happend (I will use a pretend scenario to explain it) is someone snitch on the mafia and by the code of Omerta, he or she must be killed for his/her actions. So, mercinaries, etc. go out to kill him. The song is basically about Omerta, snitching and the killing of the snitch. So, the snitch is killed after the finding of him and "order" is restored.
