Linkin Park: Robot Boy Meaning
Robot Boy Lyrics
Because no one will fight for you
And you think there's not enough love
And no one to give it to
And you're sure you've hurt for so long
You've got nothing left to lose
So you say you're not going to...

#1 top rated interpretation:From experience, I am absolutely certain that this song is talking about an altruist- someone who thinks the whole world is a mess and makes all the effort s/he can to make it better. We feel hurt because we can't do enough. Compassion is a flaw because it causes this hurt. We feel alone because we can't find others who relate. No one fights for us, because our help is taken for granted. We are anonymously praised even if we're not anonymous. We won't stop doing what we do because we feel that, in a selfish world, we're the only ones who truly and unconditionally care for others. The final lyrics are speaking directly to altruists everywhere, telling us to keep holding on, as the burden of filling this role will eventually set us free, with the weight of knowing the world needs us.

#2 top rated interpretation:Thank you guys for letting me understand this song better.
To me, I can feel the meanings behind this song when I imagine myself becoming a full-time listening ear to everyone around me, yet when it comes to myself who needs a listening ear to share my burdens with, not a single soul will attend to my needs.
Be it, childrens of war, world hero..... But they all share something in common; They've helped/stood up for several people, yet nobody will be there to help them and understand their pains and sorrows. However, they can't bear to see their loved ones suffer, thus giving them the strength to continue no matter how tiring, how painful, how sick it can be.
Additionally in my own interpretation, the song was called "Robot Boy" because robot literally doesn't have emotions, and Chester sang this song with a monotone-like voice and robot-like tune to display the robotic side of this song. This is to show that the subject had been numbed from all these pains (Suffering from pains whereas at the same time getting pushed forward continuously).
This is why Linkin Park is always my medication of life! -
Linkin Park album 'A Thousand Suns' is a concept album which is about nuclear war and in the interlude 'The Radiance' there is a speech of Oppenheimer, he mentions about Bhagavad Gita. Now let's talk about 'Robot Boy'. When prince Arjuna was in battlefield he was supposed to kill his own kinsmen. Since they were his relatives, he didn't want to kill them and was about to give up the fight right before it started. Lord Krishna addresses him that it was his attachment, not love because his relatives were dying to kill him but he was not. Lord Krishna said if he does his duty then Krishna will take him to his kingdom.
Thus in my interpretation, this song is addressed for soldiers like him. -
This person is someone who had something happen to them by someone, or lost someone. That thing what ever it was, no one has helped, either no one knew, or tried and could not “truly” relate. That thing has turned into this weight or anchor has made you feel alone. and since no one can or will help. Why bother with compassion I have received none, it is weakness when you are trying to be strong. Robot is how you feel almost emotionless, except despair. Not gonna fight, hurt for so long, Death/suicide is what seems to be the solution. But if you hold on, that weight/anchor you can forge into a BATTERING RAM and smash through that wall of sadness. Lose your kids, your mother/father, abused, put that into your mind. If you are lucky you find someone to help with the forge.

I think it's about your self not caring about others so you give up in life and you may not know what is right... but after time has passed you will soon seem to know what is right and start caring...

This song could also be about how 'kids' were drafted into the army for WWII or Vietnam. If you listen to the whole album you get a soldieristic feeling about it.

This song is about a person who, to the world, is a hero, but nobody is willing to stand up for him when he is in trouble. The person thinks,"If there is nobody to fight for you, then whats the point of fighting for others in the first place?" Yet at the same time, the world needs him. The hero wants to let go of his duty, yet he can't, yet somehow, the world will encourage him to do his duty.

Yeah, so i believe it's talking about people who believe that they can't trust anyone, and rely solely on their own strength.
