    I dunno what the hell gilligans eyes are but I think the whole point of the song is about domestic violence against men and how he feels he can't say anything because he loves her too much so he lets her hit him and abuse him

    Basically an unstable relationship, where they hurt each other whether physically or otherwise and because they feel they need each other, the pain becomes a form of comfort to them. It's like it's worth it because I can be with you and I'd rather the pain of being hit/sworn at etc than the pain of losing you.
