Plug In Baby Lyrics

I've exposed your lies, baby
The underneath is no big surprise
Now it's time for changing
And cleansing everything
To forget your love

My plug in baby
Crucifies my enemies
When I'm tired of giving
My plug in baby
In unbroken virgin...

What the heck is this about porn interpretation? Everyone that thinks that can get it out of their heads because it is completely wrong and just stupid.

Course eveyone should have there own theory's to what this song means, to me it's about finding it easy to connect with one person(s)/idea that and not the mass off people around him and wile he/she tries to change him/herself to fit in hence (plug in)

Although (whether Matt B. likes it or not) the porn/cheap happiness/scapegoat interpretation fits best.
Your "Plug in Baby crucifies your enemies", meaning if your enemies/fears (perhaps reality itself) are giving you a hard time, "porn"/"cheap happiness" always seems to help you get over it (for a short while, then you just get addicted)...
also when "your tired of living" shows a lack of motivation or fear to just go find something "real" to like, or perhaps find someone real.
Next you have the whole talk of changing and cleansing, which shows that "whoever" understands that they are addicted to something (porn or the cheap happiness) and need to rid themselves of such "addiction".
really it could be about a lot of things, perhaps even drugs.
    What does this state?
Well, we come to the conclusion that it (the song) is simply about an "addiction" classified as a "plug in baby" that whoever is trying to rid himself of.

new term- "PLUG IN BABY" : an object of addiction or obsession, that in many cases helps its user to escape from what he/she believes to be a hard reality)

Hey they were high when they wrote the song and dom said that the song is either about his guitar or puppies that never grow old

I' ll focus on the refrain because it defines the general meaning of the song. I thing the most obvious explanation of the song for the plug in thing, is a state of mind, in which you may not be completely your normal self or in which you are your real self, or even both.

This fits perfectly with the guitar love interpretation to whoever understands what i am talking about.

When you are asked for the meaning of lyrics of one of your songs, in my point on view, its somewhat disturbing for the creator. In this case a puppy explanation for their meaning is the fitting answer ;)

The song most of the times loses its "magic". Why? Because everyone who heard that song, relate it with various different situations that deeply concern them and their emotions.

Most songs are like poems. Many poems have high value because they can be interpreted in different ways. It doesn't matter if you don't think the same way as the creator, or if you gave it a different meaning.

I agree with the guitar interpretation. It does make the most sense. Matt did say, in one of his magazine interviews that it was about 'genetically engineering puppies to remain young and live forever'. Ya gotta love Matt, but I don't think he knows what he's talking about half the time! :P

This lylic is about love which is gonna be gone soon.

my lover has lots of wanna-be her guys around.
one day I found out that.

well I'm kind of lack of confidence on our love.
so feel nervous about 'our love'.
she is like a so-called hot-chick.(don't know you guys can get what I am trying to say.. I'm not english-culture boy...)

    anyway day by day....
i come to agree the situation, that we gotta be broken up.
Sex don't give any meaning to me and her and all the her guys.

    yes, I've been her 'loving'.
now, somebody gonna replace me, and before that she gonna say to me, 'to forget your love... I needed somebody'...

this kind of story.... which I concluded...
well interpretations are open to everybody.

I think is it about porn. Like you plug-in and watch it. Its like that girl you're watching right with you until you unplug. Just because it is about porn doesn't take meaning from it. The only way he can be with her is just plugging in.

It's about designing beings to exist for only one specific purpose. "Now it's time for changing / And cleansing everything / To forget your love" - it's more like "to MAKE YOU forget your love" and become a robot. And later, "Change me / Replace the envying / To forget your love" - "And I've seen your loving / But mine is gone" - he is also becoming a "robot." See?-- "I'm tired of living".

"My plug in baby / Crucifies my enemies" - If you don't exist with hatred, your enemies are thus annihilated because they're not exactly your enemies anymore. His "plug in" is what makes him mindless, like a mind-erasing computer or something.

So he wants everyone to become a mindless drone to get rid of the worries of love and enmity, etcetera. Easy way out.

Hear you go mate, Billy Joe is talking about how his father died on 9-11 or around that date, not sure, but how when that time of year comes 'round he gets touchy feely and sad and wants it to pass.

    porn?
    guitars?
    girls?

    you crazy kids.

it's about using your yourself to do things you didn't think you had in you, or things you wouldn't usually do.
like switching yourself on to do something you have to do.
"my plug in baby crucifies my enemies when I'm tired of giving"
the baby is yourself / himself.
and he plugs himself into to do things sometimes, like telling yourself to just do it even if you can't be bothered / don't want to.

    and there we go.

if you read the interviews you would have saved a lot of time.
    good theories though. Ha.

I think that making a song about electric guitar would be way too banal and obvious for muse. After all they aren't "we are gonna rock you" type of band.

I'm in for the porn interpretation. In the video you can see how the girls are dissolving to snakes or wires (maybe a internet cable?) which does give a hint that they sound be but back to where they came from. "When I'm tired of giving ... " means that porn is an easy way and demands nothing in change (well actually it does) just plug in and jerk off. "Now it's time for changing - and cleansing everything - to forget your love" points to an attempt to get rid of the addiction and how it gives you dirty and guilty conscience. "and I've seen your loving but mine is gone" tells us how it ruins you bit by bit.

And these are just a few to mention.
