Somebody's Baby Lyrics
-
I believe this is about the travesty of how society looks down upon and shamed folks who fall in hard times - who may be homeless, jobless, or both, or otherwise destitute. It’s so powerful to remember, “... he used to be somebody’s baby, someone used to hold him close and rock him gently... ... that’s was so long ago, long before they came and took his soul...” - or in other worlds, long before substance abuse put him in these unfortunate circumstances. This was powerful for me in the 90s, and even more so now, as I wish everyone could see folks down on their luck as somebody’s baby, who needs love, hope, and kindness to rebound.
