Hey You Lyrics

Hey you, out there in the cold
Getting lonely, getting old
Can you feel me?
Hey you, standing in the aisles
With itchy feet and fading smiles
Can you feel me?
Hey you, dont help them to bury the light
Don't give in without a fight.

Hey you,...

A dialogue between feeling & mind; one cannot survive without the other ('Together we stand - divided we fall').

My interpretation is that spirit is talking to the lost soul, who built the wall around him for protection but inevitably became his prison. The spirit tells him don't help them to bury the light, don't give in without a fight. The light inside is that of the spirit. Together we stand, divided we fall. Truth!!

A song about the pain of separation caused by the visible or the invisible wall that was built between people. Where one hopes and tries to break free, even if it's a wishful dream. This dream is a cry for freedom and comfort for somebody to hear him on the other side is just as relevant today as it was during the years one was behind the Berlin Wall. A time when brothers and sisters in families were divided and slowly became estranged from one another, but still hearing the echoe sounds of the other not to give up on each other with the hope to be free and together again. Preparing his[the protagonist] homecoming to come through in the belief that the wall will be torn down which kept them apart from seeing each other in strength and love. This hurt is alive and well in today's time, where you can still hear the cries on both sides of the wall between the normal Jewish people and the Palestinians that really want to be and feel free like it was at one time, from these present Oppressors that still keeps them divided in hatered. And of course there is always the invisible wall these days between us brothers and sisters that we are in need rationally and psychologically to break it down with the helping hand of the Trump card to play and fight for us in order to bring us all together to stand united. Otherwise keep being divided we will continue to fall where we are and will be in need for a real wall to be built so that we don't keep dividing ourselves further down the line and into The Melting Pot that is just to the boiling point that keeps extracting more gold and silver out of ''we the people'' to the point that we will be left behind like rusted out automobiles.

I believe that this song is about the death of your loved ones and it is a sad and depressing thing.
I`ll break it up for you.

Hey you out there in the cold getting lonely getting old can you feel me?
You will eventually be alone and get old. Can you still remember your loved ones?

Hey you standing in the aisles with itchy feet and fading smiles can you feel me?
You will get unconfortable. You won`t be happy anymore. Do you still remember your loved ones?

Hey you dont help them to bury the light.
Dont give in without a fight.
Dont be so sad and depressed now that your loved ones arent with you anymore. Keep going dont give up there is still something left for you.

Hey you out there on your own sitting naked by the phone would you touch me
Hey you with your ear against the wall waiting for someone to call out would you touch me
Hey you would you help me to carry the stone
Open your heart, I'm coming home

You are waiting for someone to help you would you reach out to your loved ones even though they are not with you anymore.
You are waitin for someone to say I am back becuase you can`t believe that your loved ones are gone.

But it was only a fantasy
The wall was too high as you can see
No matter how he tried he could not break free
And the worms ate into his brain.
You believe it is fake and not real you can`t believe that your loved ones are gone. You start to crack because it is too much for you

Hey you out there on the road
Always doing what you're told, can you help me
Hey you out there beyond the wall
Breaking bottles in the hall, can you help me
Hey you don't tell me there's no hope at all

You are being asked for help now but you dont help whoever is asking for help
Someone now is saying I know you are mad and depressed but please come out and help me so you can help yourself.
That same person is saying dont say that there is no hope because there is always hope.

Together we stand. Divided we fall
We live together but we do not die together.

This song is sung from the perspective of someone singing to Pink from the other side of his "wall."

"Hey You, out there in the cold, getting lonely getting old, can you feel me? Hey you, standing in the isles with itching feet and fading smiles can you feel me?"

These lines are the outsider asking if Pink can understand him, pretty much.

"Hey you, don't help them to bury the light. Don't give in, without a fight."

this is the outsider telling Pink not to give into all the negative feelings he is having.

The Second and third verses are the outsider asking Pink to come come out from behind the wall, and come back into the real world.

It's about the cold war and how Germany was divided into east and west Germany but more specifically the actual wall that was built in the middle of Berlin creating Soviet east germany and democratic west germany... pink Floyd is reaching out to the people of east Berlin and telling them to not give up! Don't let them put out the light...of reason of enlightened thinking that belongs to the west. Pink Floyd is a british band ... the u.s. and Britain were in charge of the west zone of Germany. "Together we stand...divided we fall."

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

I think the meaning is clearly about war. In forrest gump LT. DAN said he had only 2 rules, one was dont get yourself killed and the other was change your socks everytime we stop... Itchy feet and fading smiles, maybe bombs exploding and some rumble fell on top of his as his wall to high to climb... and he couldnt get out... couldnt break free... together we stand, divided we fall, we go in together, we die one by one....

This is a very touching song that I'll treasure. My late brother and one of his girl friends would say to each other, "Hey you." There was meaning to this song for both of them, they said "Hey you," with love & humor... Yes this song is about any kind of big fight in life & existence. Peace & love,RIP big bro!

Well I think it's about love. And what it takes to love and to be loved, about the one you can really rely on, who will help you through etc. About the big fight of life and existence.

It's clearly that this song means something special for the lead singer's band who lived such a bad experience & the way his father died. Well, but we may give different interpretations to this song. In my opinion.this songs is for those who have a person who is loved and that person is like stuck in hell,i mean ,like bad habits which may be drugs, alcohol and even though day want to go out of the dark and keep going with their normal life and when the family help him/her and they have to deal with that problem and with the sorrow of seeing that person loved without his/her grasp.

i think hes trying to get across to the different walks of life to make them help in rising against the Military Industrial Complex and the New World Order. Many of the lyrics of their other songs have to do with war and the lead singers dad who died in war
