No It Isn't Lyrics

Please understand
This isn't just goodbye
This is I cant stand you
This is where the road crashed into the ocean
It rises all around me
And now we're barely breathing
A thousand faces we'll choose to ignore

[chorus]
Curse my enemies...

You have to admit this song has a little conection with Tom and the break-up of Blink 182. Like when mark says, "I listen to you talk, but talk is cheap" It's most likely about, at the time Tom was syaing how rad his band was going to be and how his music would change the world and Mark saying that talk is cheap why don't you show what your band is capable of.

And the part when Mark says, "My mouth is filled with blood from trying not to speak" is how he didn' want to say anything to the press or any one and talking about what he thinks about Tom and his band.

And when Marks ings about The lives that we destroyed it's about all the fans of Blink 182 and how the break up affected some kids a lot.

"let's slit our wrists" refers to tom's little departure to emo

"burn down something beautiful" is the dismantling of blink

"I listen to you cry" is tom's ranting about how he hated blink

"I cry for less attention" is mark not wanting to be the greatest rock band ever

"but both my hands are tied and I'm pushed in to the deep end" is how tom left the band with nothing, while he was planning his own project

"lay rotting where I fall, I'm dead from bad intentions" refers to how mark has had a very tough couple of years since the break up.

okay, anyone who thinks this song has nothing to do with tom is a complete retard. and to all the people talking shit, try being a fan and not a critic. If you really knew blink, you would know this song is about tom. That's it.

    FULL SONG MEANING

    "Please understand
    This isn't just goodbye
This is I cant stand you"

THE SONG IS DIRECTLY WROTE IN RESPONSE TO TOM LEAVING BLINK 182, WHAT RESULTED IN THE END OF THE BAND.
IN THE FIRST LINE HE MAKES IT CLEAR IT'S NOT JUST AN RUPTURE OF A BAND, BUT ALSO OF A FRIENDSHIP.

"This is where the road crashed into the ocean"

THE ROAD IS THE BAND'S PATH. IT MEANS THIS IS THE END OF THE ROAD, NOT JUST A OBSTACLE IN THE MIDDLE.

    "It rises all around me
    And now we're barely breathing"

HE NOWS USE THE METAPHOR OF DROWNING, TALKING HOW THE END OF THE BAND LEAVES THEM

"A thousand faces we'll choose to ignore"

REFERENCE TO THE FANS OF BLINK 182

    "Curse my enemies forever"

THERE IS A STRONG SUGGESTION THAT NOW TOM IS QUALIFIED AS AN ENEMY, AND THAT MARK HOPES THE WORST FOR HIM

"Lets slit our wrists and burn down something beautiful"

REFERENCE TO THE MELANCHOLIC AND EMO PHASE TOM WENT THROUGH AFTER LEAVING BLINK, AND THEN TO THE MOOD OF HIS NEW BAND, AVA

    "This desperation leaves me overjoyed
With fading lights that leads us past the lives that we destroy"

HERE WE HAVE A POSSIBLE CRITIC TO THE NEW MUSIC PATH TOM DECIDED TO GO. ALSO SAYING THAT THE FUTURE IS NOT VERY PROMISSING, ITS BEING LIGHTED BY FADED LIGHTS. THE LIVES THEY DESTROYED IS THEIR OWN LIFE AS BLINK 182 MEMBERS

    "I listen to you cry
    I cry for less attention
But both my hands are tied
And I'm pushed into the deep end
I listen to you talk but talk is cheap
And my mouth is filled with blood
    From trying not to speak
    So search for an excuse
    And someone to believe you"

THERE IS ANOTHER CRITIC TO THE "NEW" TOM, NOW ABOUT HIS INTERVIEWS, AND A PARALLEL WITH MARKS REACTION.
HE SAYS THAT FROM TOM'S SIDE THERE IS A LOT OF CRYING FOR ATTENTION, SADNESS. ALSO TOO MANY EXCUSES FROM WHAT HAD HAPPEN.
BUT ON HIS OWN SIDE IS SOMEBODY THAT IS SICK OF TALKING ABOUT IT AND AT THE SAME TIME HAVING TO HOLD BACK HIS ANGER (AND MAYBE THE TRUTH) EVERY TIME HE DOES TALK

    "In foreign dressing rooms
I'm empty with the need to"

PROBABLY A REFERENCE TO A TOUR THAT WAS CANCELLED WITH THE END OF THE BAND

    "Lay rotting where I fall
    I'm dead from bad intentions
    Suffocated and embalmed
And now all our dreams are cashed in"

THE PAIN AND THE BACK STABBING WHAT PUTTED IN A VERY POETIC WAY ON THOSE LINES. HE ALSO MAKES IT CLEAR THAT IT WAS HIS DREAM THAT TOM RUINED

"You swore you wouldn't lose then lost your brain"

THIS IS A STRONG LINE WHERE MARK BOTH CALLS TOM INSANE (LOST YOUR BRAIN) AND MAKES A REFERENCE TO A POSSIBLE PSYCHOLOGICAL INSTABILITY OF TOM WHILE BLINK STILL EXISTED (YOU SWORE YOU WOULDNT LOSE)

"You make a sound that feels like pain"

A DIRECT CRITIC TO AVA'S MUSIC. WITH OBSCURE AND MELANCHOLIC LYRICS AND MELODIES.

For starters, this is definitely, 100% about the end of blink-182 and Mark's relationship with Tom.

    First verse:

"Please understand, this isn't just goodbye, this is I can't stand you" - speaks for itself.
"This is where the road crashed into the ocean, it rises all around me and now we're barely breathing" - talks about the sudden ending of blink-182.
"A thousand faces we'll choose to ignore" - the "thousand faces" refer to blink-182 fans.

    Chorus:

"Curse my enemies forever" - Mark never wants to speak/hear from Tom ever again.
"Let's slit our wrists and burn down something beautiful" - blink-182 is the "something beautiful" in this line. I personally think that this line is saying that they were careless about "burning down" something as "beautiful" as blink - they're just going to be sad, depressed, and destroy blink-182.
"This desperation leaves me overjoyed, with fading lights that lead us past the lives that we destroy" - by ending blink, they've destroyed the lives of blink-182 fans. The fading lights might refer, if you were to be deep, to their guide in life; when blink ended, their guide, or "light" that was leading them through life, faded. Mark didn't know what to do when blink-182 ended because blink was his life.

    Second verse:

"I listen to you cry, I cry for less attention" - quite self-explanatory. Mark listened to Tom cry, and he implies that Tom cried for attention, or turned on the water works to get out of tight situations.
"But both my hands are tied, And I'm pushed into the deep end" - the ending of blink-182 was inevitable; Mark couldn't do anything to stop it.

"I listen to you talk, But talk is cheap" - this may be interpreted two different ways. The first, Mark listened to Tom all through blink's career/the final months of blink talk about how blink was the world to him and Mark and Travis meant a lot to him, but Tom's talk was proved "cheap" when he left blink-182. The second interpretation could be that Mark listened to Tom talk about his band Angels & Airwaves when Tom said it was going to change the music industry and be the greatest rock band in the world.
"And my mouth is filled with blood, From trying not to speak" - this line is, obviously, about Mark keeping his mouth shut and not going off to the press like Tom did.

"So search for an excuse, And someone to believe you" - when blink-182 was in its final months, Tom kept making excuses for his behaviour and actions. Then, when blink ended, and people started to blame Tom for the break up, Tom started employing a variety of excuses (everything from "I'm 30 years old, I want to be more mature" to "They gave me an ultimatum over my family") and Mark became sick of it. He's saying Tom should just make up another excuse and someone to believe him.
"In foreign dressing rooms, I'm empty with the need to" - Mark and Tom are now in "foreign dressing rooms".

    Bridge:

"I lay rotting where I fall, I'm dead from bad intentions" - Tom's intentions were greedy, as the next line implies.
"Suffocated and embalmed and now all our dreams are cashed in" - "our dreams" means their dreams about the future of blink-182. Tom wanted to make as much money off of it as he could.
"You swore you wouldn't lose, then lost your brain" - Tom promised Mark that he'd never turn into a sell-out, or that he'd never changed, but then he changed drastically.
"You make a sound that feels like pain" - though this is quite a clear lyric, I'm not entirely sure what it's referring to.

I'm sorry if my interpretation is a little off, or if you don't agree with it. I believe everyone has their own personal interpretation of songs and, as long as they're not completely ridiculous, they're all right. No matter what you think the lyrics mean, you cannot deny this is lyrically one of Mark's best.

I think this is about the break up, everyone's already said most of it, but the line that makes me laugh is
"you make a sound that feels like pain"
because all it reminds me of is Angels and Airwaves. Now don't get me wrong, they're not total shit, but they're my least favourite of the blink 182 spinoffs.

and everyone bagging out other people for what they write, this is an INTERPRETATION meaning that it's people's opinions, and everyone is entitled to their own.

This song is about Blink-182's breakup, and Tom.
"Please understand this isn't just goodbye, this is I can't stand you," referrs to Tom saying angels and airwaves was going to be the best band ever, and him being arrogant.
"This is where the road crashed into the ocean, It rises all around me, and now were barely breathing," refers to what lead to the break up, and why they broke up.
"Let's slit our wrists and burn down something beautiful," refers to thinking breaking up is career suicide, and the beautiful thing being Blink-182.
"This desperation leaves me overjoyed, with fading lights that lead us past the lives we destroy," refers to wanting to break up, and not wanting to feel bad about
Greg Barne's suicide ( who hanged himself, and had Adams song on repeat).
"I listen to you talk but talk is cheap, and my mouth is filled with blood from trying not to speak," refers to Tom saying Angels would be the best band ever and trying not to tell him to shut up.

This songs about a lot of things Tom, love obviously, heres an interesting outlook on it maybe it's about committing suicide because of love.
He says this isn't just goodbye this is I I can't stand you, maby somebody commits suicide because someone broke up with them. The rode crashed into the ocean, if someone broke up with you. Lets slit are wrists and burn down something beautiful, destroying your life, and then With fading light's that leave us pass the lives we destroy, killing your self and seeing the light, and the people who love you there lives are destroyed. I don't think that's what it's about but it could be, like history shows if I committed suicide I would have that song play indefinitely for me.

This is undoubtedly about Tom and the break up. Marks said it was about the break up and Tom. "this isn't just good bye this I can't stand" refers to mark saying who cares your gone to tom. There are numerous references to tom such as "lets slit our wrist" which refers to when tom started his emo phrase. But who really cares because Tom left and made a way shittier band and mark and Travis created a bad ass true to their roots band.

"The album refers to the break-up of blink-182, and "the ugly feelings that were left over afterwards," according to Hoppus. The song "No It Isn't", released on Tom Delonge's birthday, December 13, is primarily directed towards DeLonge's departure from blink-182.

This song has only little meaning with the blink 182 break up. The song actually refers to Mark and Toms friendship. He writes his feelings towards tom and that he can't stand him and how he lied and hid in the shadows. when it says "burn down something beautiful" it is referring to their friendship.

I started listening to blink when I was in 3rd grade I fell in love with them. I own ever cd and every dvd they have ever made. When they broke up it was a complete shock, and I knew that both mark and tom would write a song about each other in there next band Angels and Airwaves wrote "THE ADVENTURE" and Plus 44 wrote "NO IT ISN'T". If you are a blink 182 fan you should know that both of these songs are about the break up of blink. This part in the adventure tells you "I'm the first to know
    My dearest friends
Even if your hope has burned with time
Anything that is dead shall be re-grown
And your vicious pain, your warning sign
You will be fine". Tom is basically saying sorry and you (mark and travis) will be fine you guys will make it in another band. No it isn't is all about tom. Mark wrote this song shotly after the break up he was still very angry at the time and had to get it out. "I listen to you talk but talk is cheap and my mouth is filled with blood from trying not to speak" that says it right there, mark is saying that nothing you are gonna say tom is right you made the wrong decsion and that he can't talk about it.. If you don't think this song is about the break up you should be shot!

Ok..Honestly this song IS about Tom and devastating breakup of Blink 182, but seriously leave Tom alone. So what, he may have broke up the band but guess who started the band? For those who don't know, the answer is Tom. So how about we just enjoy the music that he helped provide instead of talking about all the negative things about him.
