I am a man
Cut from the know
Rarely do friends
Come and then go
She was a girl
Soft but estranged
We were the two
Our lives rearranged
Feeling so good that day
A feeling of love that day

Twisting and turning
Your feelings...

I read the meaning in Kiedis's authobiography Scar Tissue: He's telling about the lovestory with his girlfriend Carmen. Their relationship was insane at the point she gone "mad" for jealousy and sometimes she became violent.
"twisting and turning, your feelings are burning" : the feels love for Carmen and a lot of passion.
He know that his not a loyal man ("raise by my dad, girl of the day") and he knows that with his behavoir he's ruin Carmen's mind:
"she meant you no warm, think you're so clever, but now you must sever, you're breaking the girl"
He's aware that for both is better to end the relationship:
"I don't know what, when or why the twilight of love has arrived"

Do great artists know how to spell? I'm pretty sure it's THEIR meanings. :) And this song sounds like crazy, naiive, and young love at first. Then the dude is drowning in his own tears and there's gasoline in the water so he burns and stuff... Painfully crying because the girl just thought it wasn't working out. :)

girl=coke, then the song makes sense.
hes describing the anxious feeling that that he gets (twisting and turning your feelings are burning) as he is breaking the cocain into lines.
Most of the rest of the lyrics just describe being depressed and filling the empty void in his life with drugs, in this case coke.
And ps, all the chilli peppers are gay so it wouldnt make sense for this to be a love song about a girl. all the best artist know how to descise there true meanings.

Actually acorrding to scartissye it bluntly states that its about his love and beakup with carmen and the lifestyle he has that he grew into

    raised by my dad
girl of the day (a different girl every day lifestyle)

she was the girl left alone feeling the need to make me her home (she wanted desperatly to live with him but he was in a different stage in his life
and she was about to slit his wrists for him ...

This song is about the sister of one of the band members and how she got raped by "a big strong nigger". It is very detailed telling of how he raped her till she bled and till she was "Moaning like a whore on duty". It also suggests that since she was raped by a black man her daddy disowned her because "no grandchild of mine will be a little nigger child". It is tied deeply in racism and lust. "Breaking the Girl" is a detailed enough title. It suggests that she was a virgin and "made the sheet turn red as he popped her cherry" and how "no virgin has ever been done like this before".

This is a song about Anthony's sister. I heard on an interview. And her break-up with a boyfriend. And this is HIS feelings about the situation.

"Raised by my dad and the girl of the day" (whatever girl he was with)
"She was the girl left all alone" (his sister)
"I will never know why the twilight of love had arrived" (just the natural progression of young love)
"Twisting and turning your feelings are burning you're breaking the girl" (explainable)
"She meant you no harm" and
"He loves no one else" (I think just explains the end of yound relationships that fall apart for no reason but still hurt.

Anthony was experiencing the pain his sister was living after this break-up, probably her first.
