Help is on the Way Lyrics

I have my mother's dreams,
I have my father's eyes,
You can't take that from me,
Just go ahead and try.
The Crescent City sleeps,
While giants in the sky,
Preparing to unleash,
Let loose a mighty cry.

Can nobody save us?
Will anyone...

Well if you see the music video its i guess about the Hurricane Katrina... which makes sense but then again makes sense more so for the oil spill

Well, as it's already been said the Crescent City is New Orleans. There are two incorrect parts in the lyrics that are up atm. it's 'the Bayou is burning,' instead of the 'pyre is burning.' Because they're bayous in Lousiana, and New Orleans is in Lousiana. The other part shouldn't be,'the surface is dyed,'it should be 'the cypress is burning' is what as in a Cypress tree, which they have up the butt in the Deep South :P
So there's more than just the Crescent City part.

I understand the times are a bit off but does this not seem to be about an oil spill? To be more vauge it is about materialistic murder. People are so consumed in the oil market at such, perhaps all their saying is help realy is on the way.

When i first heard this song i though it was a track off of the Gasoline Rainbows benefit CD along with Dallas Green and his genius work of art, At The Birds Foot.

Total guess, but i think its about our nations slow and ineffective responses to move disasters then we can count anymore. "5000 feet below black smoke engulfs the sky" seems to referance the oil leak in the Gulf, "Eleven mothers cry" might be the miners trapped in Chile, though im not sure how many of them there were. The whole song may just be talking about FEMA's slow responce to Hurrican Katrina. This is all just speculation but thats what i got out of it
