   what hes saying is the hes tired of all these people slapping him in the face with their religious beliefs. he cannot shake the taste of blood in his mouth.

   When I sit and listen to this song it makes me feel like he is having an inner battle with his own addiction(s)maybe? Like 1 minute he's 1 way and the next he is someone different through his addiction. The battle within maybe. That is my guess.

   I think its about an abusive alcoholic wife, how the singer blames himself for her alcoholism and hopes she wil get better but realizes that she wont get better so ultimately decides to leave her

   he cant help but realize theres nothing he can do.
   he hates thinking about her alcoholism.
   her alcoholism is making him scared for his safety and their relationship.
   
   shes there when she needs him.
   she prays when shes scared.
   she trys to get him to drink.
   she blames him for her alcoholism.
   hes regretful that he introduced her to drinking.
   she beats him.
   
   she trys to get over her alcoholism.
   she beats him so much the taste of blood is normal.
