Creep (Half the Man I Used to Be) Lyrics

Forward yesterday
Makes me wanna stay
What they said was real
Makes me wanna steal
Livin' under house
Guess I'm livin', I'm a mouse
All's I gots is time
Got no meaning, just a rhyme

Take time with a wounded hand
'Cause it likes to...

This song is not about his drug addiction. Scott didn't begin using heroin until after Core was released.

My former high school lit teacher said that she attended high school with Scott Weiland (I believe at Edison High in HB) and that her hallway locker was adjacent to his. As the story goes, one day she overheard Weiland's girlfriend call him a creep while breaking up with. Hence, the title of the song and the lyric, "then she tells me I'm a creep". If true, quite lame.

I think that this song is about a recovering Kleptomaniac. It would kind of make sense. He has nothing left, he needs to heal the hands that have been dirtied by his compulsive obsession. He is half the man he used to be because he lost something that was a big part of his life that he can no longer do. No longer wants to do.

Is it not about Bobby Jones? I was told by Bob himself that it was. Wounded hand - left hand almost shot off.

This song can be about many things as with any song. For me it is about my own personal battle going through two back surgeries and the feeling of not being able to do what I used to do. I am half the man I used to be.

It is obviously a song about John Wayne Bobbitt. "Half the man I used to be" [snip, snip]

the memory of their ex is "all that they've got".
"Im far from lonely" he isn't lonely but he wants to pretend as if he is so he can remember his ex and think it was "real", and have something to look forward to.

"Actually it is called half the man I used to be.

And I also downloaded it with the mistaken title of Nirvana, it does sound a lot like kurt..I thought that till my sister told me lol"

if you know they got the artist wrong (STP not nirvana, and it sounds nothing like cobain, he's way grittier and raspier than Scott Weiland) why the hell are you so virulently defending the wrong title?

it is definitely "creep". anyone living in the early 90's who is slightly familiar with the genre would know this. It is by stone temple pilots.it is not "half the man I used to be", it is called "creep". It is the 7th track from their album "core" which was released September 29, 1992

It's definitely creep. It's off of their core album, which I have right in front of me.

Clear and simple it's bout a guy who doesn't feel like he used to he is half the man he used to be.

About a depressed guy, who is basically a loner or creep, and the song's called Creep, not half the man I used to be.

This song is pretty clear in its meaning, he feels that he has lost credability, worth and feelings etc and is singing about it, or just wrote a song about feeling like that.

Dont get me wrong I LOVE this song. One of the main reasons I am writing this is because the first time I heard it was when I obtained an mp3 labelled as Nirvana-half the man i used to be.mp3

Unfortunately, I BELIEVED the name. It sounds a lot like Kurt, to disagree with that is purely just to be awkward. I was sad when I found out :( Anyway be aware of Fakes and mislabelling like i should have been.
