The 1975: It's Not Living (If It's Not With You) Meaning
Song Released: 2018
It's Not Living (If It's Not With You) Lyrics
-
The lead singer had said in an interview that he struggled with an addiction with heroine. The song talks about a person named Danny and how Danny needs to “search the street when he’s on vacation,” and, “it all began with his operation,” suggesting that his addiction began after a hard time in their life and how he couldn’t stop using. The lyrics go through Danny’s struggle, and the lead singers as well (he uses first person in most of the song), the famous line, “it’s not loving if it’s not with you”, refers to the drug he couldn’t live without at one point in his life.
