The Cure: Why Can't I Be You? Meaning
Song Released: 1987
Why Can't I Be You? Lyrics
I'll kiss you from your feet
To where your head begins
You're so perfect you're so right as rain
You make me
Make me hungry again
Everything you do is irresistable
Everything you do is simply...

Altar B. Morrison is someone people wanted to be, then they decided they didn't, they really would be dead, and all statements would end.

This song same others by The Cure have death inner it. Is a primordial feeling of the psico before killing to have the place and persolality of victim that he admire... :)

Uh, I thought it was just the mouth in the video saying the word 'Can't', why do people have to make these songs sound like they're all about sex and stuff? I think this is just a song about a guy who knows someone (personally or maybe its a fictional person or I don't know) and they're so perfect and wonderful, he asks Why Can't I Be You? :)

The video clip to this song cleverly included some risque word play, turning "Can't" into "Cu-t." When the members of the band are symbolizing the words "Why Can't I Be You" as the letters Y _ I B U, by shaping their bodies into the shape of these letters, the word "Can't," which is the only word that could not be symbolized by a letter, was instead represented by a large mouth, or "Pair of lips" turned sideways (i.e. a vagina). Thus, 'Y c-nt I B U.' The original film clip is nowadays often replaced with the film clip of the remix to this song which doesn't include this part of the clip.
I was so happy to learn this, because I couldnt figure out what they were spelling in the video.
