    This song is pretty much saying that their love is true and he won't forget her no matter what. The realationship is "gold" (of high value) in his eyes, and all the good memories that they shared will remind him how good he has it. To finish this off; he is also telling he to not be scared of the future because he promises they will be together, and he won't find any one better.
