Good Vibrations Lyrics

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears
And the way the sunlight plays upon her hair
I hear the sound of a gentle word
On the wind that lifts her perfume through the air

I'm pickin' up good vibrations
She's giving me excitations...

It's been 23 minutes since this song started running through my head and it's time to get my thoughts into permanent archive lest they be lost forever.

This is a deceptively complex ditty that is bathed in mystic. The high pitched girly voice wielded without care by the singer obviously denotes infatuation. The question is with whom? We wait on baited breath for clues: the colorful clothes, light playing on the hair, beautiful words lifted through the air. Can there be any doubt?

The chorus kicks in and there is no doubt about who is sending those "good vibrations" Mike Love's way: it's his new smart phone. Before you dismiss altogether, consider that what else could you love that vibrates? (Before you jump to some filthy conclusion, remember that the Beach Boys were a clean outfit.) It pretty much leaves the vibrating cell phone.

The colorful cloths and sunlit hair? It was a skin on the phone shinning in the afternoon's (or was the morning's?) sun light. The voice is obviously some long awaited call coming in.

Also consider the line "She's giving me excitations." Are you as clueless as me about what that big ol' word means? Here's what the dictionary says:

    Ex•ci•ta•tion
    –noun

    Electricity.
the application of voltage to an electric device, as an electron-tube circuit, an antenna, or a dynamotor, often for producing a magnetic field in the device.

Yup, these dudes dug their phones. I'm not really sure how the last verse fits in, but I'm working on it. If you peg it, do add your thoughts. I'm dying of curiosity!

Got to run. Cell phone is vibrating!

    -Independent Thinker

    Last verse:
    Na na na na na
    Na na na
    Na na na na na
    Na na na
    Do do do do do
    Do do do
    Do do do do do
    Do do do
