Tori Amos: Fearlessness Meaning

anonymous Jan 30th 2013 report
This song is about The fearlessness of feelings. Specifically, not being afraid to feel love.
It begins with the start of a love relationship - a couple in love just staring on their journey together, strengthened by their love.
The singer has no doubt, no fear that love will prevail. She asks her lover to listen to her, to trust her.
He does not, though, letting his thoughts for the unreasonable or impossible ("why can't you balance the sky") take over. He is afraid to feel and focuses on other things so he can avoid feeling.
A third person - a "dark companion" - as well as demons and siren friends, get in the way. They all distract him, and he fails to trust love and listen to his heart.
What was once a strong, loving relationship has fallen apart. It had the potential to do great things. But fears of love and listening to one's heart have prevailed.
