Young the Giant: Apartment Meaning
I feel this cold inside me
It howls all through the market
It calls your name
On my way to your apartment
I write for fear of silence
You carved a boat to sell my shadow
Now I walk alone
I hit the sidewalk...

It's about a car crash-
"I HIT the sidewalk, and this is how it starts" He hit the sidewalk, and this is how it starts refers to the beginning of the car crash. He is driving with someone, and in the car crash he kills them, and walks past their apartment. It makes sense, and no, IT IS NOT ABOUT A BREAKUP
