   ~[I believe the first verse is talking of a disastrous relationship, not romantic, that created nothing but pain. The pain lead to other things, such as depression or drug use. He goes on to say that he's breaking free from all this darkness and refuses to bend to what has been crushing him before.]~

   ~[He's pissed that he's spent so much time trying to make the bad relationship work. He's cutting his ties from said person, and will do anything to repulse them. He tells them that they are on their own now.]~
   
   I would have kept you, forever, but we had to sever
   It ended for both of us, faster than a
   Kill off this thinking, it's starting to sink in
   I'm losing control now, and without you I can finally see
   
   ~[He begins to feel bad for cutting the person off, and is trying frantically to explain to the person why, and justify his reasons, but is failing quickly. He realizes what he is doing, and grows angry with himself. He forces himself "kill off this thinking," the line of thought that was drawing himself back toward whatever he's leaving. Whoever he's leaving has hidden things from him and lied to him, and now that he's leazving he can understand what he's missed.]~
