A Fine Frenzy: Almost Lover Meaning

Almost Lover Lyrics
The palm trees swaying in the wind
Images
You sang me Spanish lullabies
The sweetest sadness in your eyes
Clever trick
I never want to see you unhappy
I thought you'd want the same for me
Goodbye, my almost...

I think it's about one sided love.. The woman loved him deeply, with all her heart and be ready to commit a relationship with him while the man only plays her feelings.. From the very beginning all he wanted was the attention from the girl, not really her heart so that in the end the one who truly loves is heart broken longing for the other half who move on easily..
-
He had feelings for her but it wasn't enough for him to commit to a relationship. She love him and gave him time but later on she found out that he met up with an ex. She was devastated and hurt. She couldn't complain because it was never official. The sweet memories created with him was playing in her head over and over again. She no longer knew who he was. All she could do was to walk away and to forget everything about him.
-
It's about how she got that close to a real relationship with him, but in the end, he didn't feel the same way as she did, and he moved on, leaving her behind. She didn't feel the same way as him. She still loved him. And she replayed the moments they spent together, wondering if he was really being honest with her. She thought he and her had a chance, but in the end, it all went up in flames. And she's trying to forget him, because she has finally realised he's not worth the pain and effort, and she's finally understood that there's no point trying to get him back, because she never will. So she has turned her back on him and left him in her past, because even though her heart is broken, it's worth the pain to forget him and never think of him again.
That's my story. I listened to this song on repeat for weeks and weeks, and I got over it in the end. -

It is about how one hoped for love.. How one misses the past.. How one thought there could be a chance.. It is about how one feels the pain in still wanting someone he knows he can never have..
-
It is about a person who hoped for love and have lost, who thought he have found what he is looking for yet she choose not to stay. It is about love that almost happened, love that almost made it. It is about the pain one feels when you think you've had it yet it was just not for you. It is about being stuck up with the past, with everything you had together, all the memories and times spent. It is about someone who cannot imagine life without his girl and he is hung up forever with the pain of them being almost lovers
-
I think it's about a woman who has been heartbroken. She may ave found herself falling for someone she shouldn't. Now she moving past it her heart is broken but shes still moving forward and letting go. "Goodbye my almost lover, goodbye my hopeless dream. I'm trying not to think about you. Can't you just let me be. My back is turned on you." She is shutting him out to make it easier. This is what she must do to heal and accept.
-
To me, this song is a goodbye song written by someone who loved someone who didn't really love her back. It's about the heartache this person feels as a result of a guy who walked away from her because the feelings were only one way. They were almost lovers until he left. And she thought that he really cared about her. She thought he'd never want anything bad to happen to her. She blames herself. And despite all this, she still cares for him.

This song is about someone who truly feel for a person who did not commit to them, hence "almost" lover.
The most beautiful song I've ever heard.
