When I heard the song at first I thought it was about suicide.can I make beauty stay if I take my life?when you die young you're still beautiful because me your youth and everyone will remember you that beautiful after your death.you know noone will ever see you grow old and perish...so you want to die young to be pretty on people's minds forever.

I think that the Lucifer interpretation and the Hitler interpretations are very good. In a way both of you are correct; Hitler fits the video, and Lucifer fits the lyrics. But I have another interpretation. I think that "Miss Murder" represents fate and the thought of suicide. Throughout the song, he keeps referring to the idea that if he gives his life to her, then he can be beautiful/handsome forever. But like every deal, there's a catch. He can keep his beauty if he takes his life, but he must serve her in return... forever.

You know in all honesty I have to agree with the people who are talking about Hitler. I mean it doesn't have to necessarly be him. but just a martyr (martyr means someone who is an idol and will die for their beliefs). you know? someone who everyone can fall in love with easily and be so fasinated by them. and they'll do what ever it takes to make their beliefs strong.

the part where it says "with just a look they shook and heavens bowed before him" I think it's talking about someone like hitler, they all adored him but at the same time feared him. I get where everyone is coming from about the whole Hitler thing. -

Whats the twist? He would gladly bet his life upon it that the hope brought by jesus will fizzle out because we are not worthy of heaven (the halos are the golden rings). Miss murder could refer to the woman in revelation who symbolizes the government or group of humans who go to heaven to rule with jesus to make up the heavenly kingdom -
Golden ring means a halo. Miss murder possibly Mary. The song is about Jesus.

I think the Hitler-thing makes most sense,. I don’t think it really has anything to do with Courtney love killing Kurt Cobain, both because it is untrue(she didn‘t kill hem), but also it is a little too hard to see, you have to be careful no to read too much into the lyrics. If you really want it to, it can mean almost anything.

Well, I think this song is about a family who lost their father to a car crash (dreams of his crash won't pass oh how we all adored him). Now, one son considers whether his life is worth it.

alright, it could go a lot of ways. Here's how I see it
hitler-
video makes some sense, but the lyrics don't fit entirely. "heavens bowed before him"? davey is catholic and would know that the heavens means the heavens...not other nations.
jesus-
lyrically, yes they make sense..except for miss murder. jesus was murdered, but willingly, which would explain if I "take my life". he knew he was dying and submitted to it. in a sense, taking your life. but again, the video doesn't seem to fit.
lucifer-
i like this one the best so far. once again the miss murder is a mystery still, but this one seems to be most lyrically correct. and I believe that davey, when standing above the crowd is hitler, he's lucifer, screaming to his fallen angels. also when daveys face lights up with fire it could be an indication that this is taking place in hell.
somehow I think the video might be meant to just establish daveys struggle with death. plus if you watch the video on youtube you can see the beginning with prelude 12/21 it clearly seems to be about davey facing death (the pale faced woman aka miss murder).

Just for the "Hitler wouldn't consult a woman" issues - Miss Murder doesn't literally have to be a woman. He "flirted" with murder quite a bit. In the end he did decide to apply it to himself, as well, to avoid being hung/etc for the public to humiliate. Definitely not pretty.
I'm stunned at how much of an incredible leader he was - too overly absorbed with blond hair and blue eyes (like culture has been for quite some time) but really pulled Germany out of a horrible "low" and into a power to be reckoned with. His revenge against the Jews (read both sides if you think he just killed Jews for the heck of it, there was reason to his "logic") was also unjust, but despite these issues he was still amazing in a sense.
I wouldn't find it terrible to admire him for his power as a leader (though those other things, yes, disturbing).
However, I'm doubtful this song's entirely about Hitler.
I do think Miss Murder's not an "actual" person, but... agh.
Does the prelude addition in the music video fit into the Hitler idea? That was the first "interpretation" I thought of when I heard this song, but I saw the music video relatively quickly after. I just keep relating the "Hey!" in the chorus to the Sieg Heil chant.
At CATHY... erm. Satin is a material frequently used in ribbon. Your "evaluation" of the song's meaning without even "knowing" or caring what the song is about has made your point seem somewhat... off. It would be like me objecting to NIN's "The Perfect Drug" because I'm afraid kids will start trying to be perfect drugs. Wait... Hwa? -
I agree with the Hitler theory.
And he's not literally going to a woman for advice. It's a metaphor, just like every other part of that song. I think 'Miss Murder' refers to his solution for making the world more beautiful--killing people. So he's asking her if beauty will continue, if his followers will continue killing people, if he takes his own life. -
Guess what? Davey is Catholic. I looked it up on wikipedia.org, and it said he attended catholic school.

All I know, is that its unreal and sad, that people listen to morbit songs like this band.And others bands.
With sorrow in ever song. Its as bad as country bands about
drinking, woman leaving,bar room fights,and so on !!!
