All Time Low: Backseat Serenade Meaning
Song Released: 2013
Backseat Serenade Lyrics
You felt it once before
I know you did; I could see it
Whiskey princess
Drink me under, pull me in
You had me at "Come over, boy; I need a friend, I understand"
Backseat serenade, dizzy hurricane
Oh...

#1 top rated interpretation:This song is about blow jobs. Ha jk.
It's about falling in love with someone but not being able to be with them.
To me, it's like they fell in love (at least what he thought) and then she decided that that is not what she wants. he's more of a booty call now, and she only calls/wants him for a good time and that's all and him (being in love) falls every time. -

#3 top rated interpretation:Alex said himself when I saw it live that this song was about blowjobs.

Alex is writing about someone who doesn't like him the way he likes them. He's sick and tired of sleeping alone every night, and waking up phased and tired. The "Whiskey Princess" he's talking about is tricking him into thinking that they're filling his desires, even though, deep down, Alex knows that he just wants someone who can be there for him and make it so he doesn't have to sleep alone anymore.
He also talks about how said person is "Salty like a summer day." It refers to them having sex in the back of a car while the radio. They're being serenaded to fake love. A 'one-night stand' to put it simply. He keeps coming back for more and more, just like the other person, when they both know they just need to give it up and think about someone new. -
The song is about having sex in the backseat of a car.

Well all these people are saying it's about uh... you know... but I think it's more about wanting to be with someone, but that someone only wants to sleep with you, and nothing else. Alex sings about wanting this girl to date and be with, but this girl only wants to sleep with him, or in other words, his looks (I don't blame her!). This kind of situation is always the worst and happens all the time in middle and high school.
-
My interpretation is two friends are 'freinds with benefits' but he (Alex) starts falling in love with the girl but all she wants is sex and he wants love. So he (Alex) basically goes after her.
-
I personally think that this song is about two people who are 'friends with beifets' and him (Alex) has stronger feelings for this girl, as for her.. he's just more of a booty call. Alex obviously loves his girl and wants more than she does, all she wants is sex, but he wants love. Seeing as Alex has fallen for this girl, he typically goes to her, for the hope of love.

It's about blowjobs
-
I think it's about two friends with benefits and the guy is falling in love with her.
-
Is it seriously about blowjobs?!
-
I personally take this as a story between a broken up couple. It's been a matter of years since they've been in contact, and after a chance encounter- he's hooked on her. He realised just how much he missed her and now he's trying to rekindle her emotions.
-
I think its a about two people using each other for sex until, like in the seconds verse, they say "this ones different, its deliberate" which suggests they now think of each other as more; its not just about sex anymore

Blow jobs :)
-
I'd kinda guess this song is finding true love out of all the people youve been with..Like it said that it was different then the ones before? Thats my guess.
-
blow job looool xD
-
Well if Alex was being serious when he introduced the song when All Time Low supported Green Day, then it's about Blow Jobs :P
