It was hard to follow when it began to snow.
But up until then I saw an under aged teen flirting. Bob is realizing it and also gets it that the other person knows this isn't going to work out.
At least one of them must know and needs to be clear to the other, there is something between them but it can't be kept going.
I'm not real comfortable with the interpretation, but since there were no others-----------
