Breaking Benjamin: Without You Meaning
Without You Lyrics
I lost myself.
We all fall down.
Never the wiser of what I've become.
Alone I stand,
a broken man.
All I have, is one last chance.
I won't turn my back on you.
Take my hand,
drag me down.
If...

#1 top rated interpretation:This is NOT simply a song about unreciprocated love... I personally Believe that it is a song about being in love with a person who is destroying themself through drug addiction.
The first verse is about coming to terms with the fact that the person that the persona loves is destroying themself.
In the sencond, the line "all I have is one last chance" highlights the fact that the persona has little, or no time to save the person from their addiction. He is unwilling to allow them kill themself with their addiction (I won't turn my back on you"), but he fears that he cannot save them from it ("and I can't save what's left of you").
The chorus further illustrates the persona's struggle against his love's addiction. The lines "sing something new, I have nothing left" describe how the persona is sick of hearing the same excuses and lies about the addiction, and how he is at the end of his tether. He also admits that he doesn't want to live without the said love interest, but she is unable to quit ("the fighting never ends, I can't face the dark without you").
The persona then continues to describe how his love is not who she used to be, and how she is destroying herself in the lines "come back down, save yourself, I can't find my way to you." He also describes how he feels powerless to save her, and his reluctance to accept what is happening; "and I can't bear to face the truth" I wanted to forgive, I'm trying to forgive, don't leave me here again."
The final verse shows how the persona finally gives up, despite the fact that he still loves the person killing themself with addiction, and that although he does love her, he has to leave and forget her, because he is powerless over the situation.
This is my interpretation of the song, but it is not correct, like all thing that are subjective, so I'd love to see some more. -

#2 top rated interpretation:my interpretation of this song is that he Loves this woman deeply but she is either depressed and suicidal or addicted to drugs...also suicidal. He feels like he is helpless and it's killing him. at the end despite that he loves her very much and tried to stop her, she kills herself. he might feel like killing himself too, but decides to forgive her.

I really can appreciate all of the thoughts about this song being about addiction and/or an ex, but I have to disagree. I personally feel this song is addressing someone have a crisis of faith. Hold on so tightly to a belief in God, even though he's getting nothing in return. In the end, I can visually see him finally pulling away and realizing that there's nothing there, or if there is, It's pulled away from us. The thing about Ben's lyrics is that they're (I think) purposefully ambiguous. This way the listener can bring their own life experiences into the song, and makes it more personal. It's masterful storytelling.

I was feeling like the song is a kind of dialogue between someone's heart and reason. Reason knows that whatever's happening in the song, the good and rationnal thing is to let go. But even tho Heart knows that Reason is right, he just can't let go that easily. His feelings are still alive and it's destroying him. Reason and heart are talking to each other in the song, or I'm just a weirdo.

This song is so wonderful because it can have many different meanings to different people. To me this song is about being in love with someone who is deeply depressed and ready to commit suicide. The narrator of this song is trying their best to keep this person alive (I won’t turn my back on you) because this person is the only thing that makes them happy (I have nothing left). The narrator doesn’t want the person to commit suicide because then they have to face the harsh world alone (I can’t face the dark without you).

This song is about a single person's struggle with who he wants to be and who he is. Plenty of symbalnce of addiction and fighting the darker version of one's self.

I think that the song starts with the "main character" of the song beginning to realize that he and the one he loves are ultimately incompatible. This thought begins to trouble him, sending him into a downward spiral of denial, hinted by the line "I can't bear to face the truth". Then, slowly over the course of the song, he begins to accept that he can't be with her, no matter how much he loves her, because they aren't right for each other. Thus "Holding the hand that holds me down... I forgive you, forget you, the end!" Deep stuff, really!

The great thing about music. You can tell when a song is really good when it can fit with your own personal meaning, and you can relate it to what’s going on in your life
-
This song is about drugs and his last chance of letting them go before they take him! As much as I wished it was a love song it's clearly about the fight against addiction.
-
It really describes the relationship between Sam and Dean Winchester of Supernatural. It fits, they fight, they leave each other, they hate each other, but no matter what they still love each other, and can't go on without the other.
-
Why does it have to be about a relationship somone did a war video with this song and it fit it pefectly. Could be a song fir a future war movie about two soldiers and one dies.

I think the whole dear agony album is a concept album they reference the "dark" like a thing or person or place that everyone's fighting against. in this song Ben or whoever is about to face the "dark" but he's being stoped by someone he loves, "Holding the hand that holds me down", but also had problems with, maybe the person from What Lies Beneath and wants to forgive and forget "I forgive you forget you the end" really good song and really apropriate string based outro

I've read through most of the interpretations here and I can't find anyone who shares the same ideas as I do.
The song sounds SIMILAR (I say similar because I know it's not the real meaning, but close) to someone who has strong feelings for another person but knows that they cannot become together. The singer does not want to forget this special person, but realizes he has no other choice.
This meaning relates to me, because there's this girl who I really like, but due to higher circumstances I cannot be with her. She either got over it fast or she just wants to make me jealous, because she has another boyfriend and it hasn't even been three weeks science I ended it with her. This makes it much harder to forget her...
This is why I interpret Without You this way -
I think its about a guy who loves a girl so much and she is so special he would die for her. That is what I think...
-
His grandfather is dying and he feels he still needs his guidance so he stays with his grandfather bcuz with out him he feels all alone with nothing but then his grandfather dies and he has to move on...
-
Dude, thiz chick left him n totalli broke hiz heart n then he givez her a second chance n all she duz iz drag him bak down n wen she realizez hez just at the bottom again she leavez him n he decidez he kant take it animore n haz 2 4get her 2 save himself.
