Songs about Small Towns
My, we all get sentimental about our homes, don't we? While the big, gleaming metropolis' like New York and San Francisco get pages of tribute, nobody thinks to write a song about Podunk, Nebraska, until one singer from there happens to get famous and comes back to give it its due. So until the rest of the small towns produce their own singer, you're stuck listening to songs about someplace else.
There's a lot to be said for living in smaller cities. They're quieter, cleaner, and have lower crime. You can think a complete thought without being interrupted by wailing sirens and honking horns. You can hear the crickets and see the stars at night. Younger people find it just a little less boring than being buried alive, but once you mature, you look for the place that's a nice balance between the hustle and bustle and being stranded out in the boonies.

Restless Heart"Big dreams in a small town,
Guess it's time to settle down.
Don't ya like the way it sounds,
Big dreams in a small town" -
Sam Hunt -
Zac Brown Band"Well I was raised up beneath the shade of a Georgia Pine
And that's home you know
Sweet tea, pecan pie, and homemade wine where the peaches grow
And my house it's not much to talk about
But it's filled with love that's grown in southern ground" -
Pogues, The"I met my love by the gas works wall
Dreamed a dream by the old canal
Kissed a girl by the factory wall
Dirty old town" -
Alabama"Down Home
Where they know you by name and treat you like family
Down Home
A mans good word and a hand shake are all you need
Folks know
If they're fallin' on hard times they can fall back home
Those of us raised up down home" -
Rascal Flatts"A front porch light and a blue Desoto
A couple of straws and a Coca-Cola, you can see it all going down
A handsome boy in army green, a tear on his face, down on a knee
Shaky voice, a diamond ring, she'll put you in that town
Tomorrow she won't remember what she did today
But just ask her about Ellsworth, Kansas, 1948" -
