Songs about Growing Up
You can't stop getting older, but you can refuse to grow up. But perhaps that isn't the best way to look at it - grown ups do have their use in the world, such as paying the rent and minding the store and whatnot. There are some jobs, such as artist, comedian, or inventor, where it's just that much better to never quite grow up all the way, to have that spark of inner child. But to be a fireman, soldier, or teacher - that requires a grown-up. The world needs both kinds.
These are songs about young folks looking forward to becoming old folks, or old folks looking back at how they got that way. Most songs about growing up don't have a very favorable view of growing up, because all songs are written by artists.

Boss Of Me They Might Be Giants
"You're not the boss of me now
You're not the boss of me now
You're not the boss of me now and you're not so big" -

Cat's in the Cradle Harry Chapin
"I've long since retired and my son's moved away.
I called him up just the other day.
I said, "I'd like to see you if you don't mind."
He said, "I'd love to, dad, if I could find the time.
You see, my new job's a hassle, and the kid's got the flu,
But it's sure nice talking to you, dad." -
