Thinking Out Loud Lyrics
Ive been running away for so long
I try to put on a face and cover my heart
But Im needing it now so bad
I dont know how I feel
Maybe Im mad or maybe Im proud
Cant find the truth, cant speak...

I think this song is basically describing how things will change throughout life, he will grow old and his memory will grow weak and he knows he'll grow weak physically as well, but the one thing that he's sure of is the fact that he will love her just the way he did back when he was young and he knows she will love him just the same. "baby my heart could still fall as hard at 23" and "I know you will still love me the same". And that's basically what he's trying to convey through this song. The feeling of loving someone deeply and knowing that they feel and will feel the exact same way towards you.

I think this song is referring to someone that you fell in love with & still are deeply in love with. However due to circumstances, you're not physically with them. In your mind you relive the first moment you fell in love with them everyday.
The love is mutual between both parties lasting a "Lifetime". Thus the love remains "Evergreen". No matter how many years go by they continue to carry the love they once had & continue to have.
So he's thinking out loud & letting her know in song how he feels.
Beautiful classic song!!!

I believe this song is about loving one person for the rest of your life. And keeping the love alive, not meaning 'making love', but more than that. I think this song is perfect just to believe that 2 people really can stay together for the rest of their lives and being happy about it.

Thinking Out Loud?
It seems there is an issue or problem.. Why would it take 13 years before she will take you in her loving arms? Are you guys far away from each other?
Anyway, that's awe-inspiring!

Oh, it's a wonderful, beautiful, sensitive son. However, the song itself--for me--pales (if that's possible) to his performance on an otherwise-forgettable award show I saw as I was channel-surfing. I was struck by his sincerity and emotion during the performance. He seemed to just feel every single word. Brought tears to my eyes.
By the way, at 57, I feel the same way about the love of MY life. I just know she will take me into her loving arms when I'm 70. I hope I die there.

The song is not his reality, "Thinking out Loud"
It is his hope for the future.
People "fall" or is it "fool" in Love ????

I think it means how his legs don't work like they used to.

Starting with the title, we know that he is going to be singing about what he thinks, we all have a deep mind so knowing that we can only assume that this song is going to be deep and meaningful. He says "your soul is forever ever green" letting us know that this woman is a very lively person, someone who loves life. He also humbles himself, singing about when he gets old and his memory fades and his hand cant play the guitar the same way and when the new generation of pop culture activist come around, will they still remember his name? here he is looking at the future with his lover, stating "I know you will still love me the same". Not hoping, not wishing but knowing that she will still love him the same as when he was 23! LOVE it can either last you a lifetime or it won't.

Ed has created the most unusual ballad cementing his true love for her. Even it has the science part of number 70 in it it is truly symbolic. Nothing like this has been created since the Beatles made "when I am 64" Fantastic work Ed, please make more of such songs

I think he is trying to tell how he fell in love and he see's a future with this woman "I will be loving you till were 70". His message or story is saying that loving someone is timeless and if you love someone you can accept the person no matter what "I just keep on making the same mistakes, hoping that you understand". His song is probably a love song to someone and he is expressing his feelings in the song.

I think it's about how it does't matter how old you are, how you look, you're the person who I fell in love with.

I think it's a beautiful song. Has a lot of love in it. And the words are lovely written too. Love at first sight. Love till he's 70. I must say its his best one

It's all about the way you begin to actually love people and show how this particular someone changes you in many ways both physically and mentally.

I am 52 and I still hoping I inspire a deep love like the song. I feel in love but I don't have the one. The writer took my fellungs in this song.

I met the love of my life when I was 16, and she was 14. We were married when I was almost 21, and she was almost 19. That was in 1969. I am now 67 (almost 70).
Ed wrote my song without ever meeting me. This type of Love is the universal. Its more than romantic feelings, it's the Love that lasts forever, no matter what....

This song basically depicts Ed's love for this girl until the end of time. It is kind of a bother when people say "oh. he is literally only going to love her until she is 70." What he is saying really is, he will love her until his last day. Yes, change is to happen. Aging, years going by, becoming weak both physically and mentally, it does not matter. His love for this girl will remain no matter what happens to him or her.
