Speed Trials Lyrics
-
'It's just a brief smile crossing her face' is a comment on easily impressed women but also a worship of them as he later compares himself to a pinball. The fact that he's easily led and malleable to his latest love is a critique of 'one true love' as a source of absolution, instead preferring the ever-changing perspective women have on the man they initially love. It's a song about conforming to a familiar narrative being inherently false and also a song about individuality being the answer to a rote way of behaving around women.
