This song is a letter to Stephen Joseph Woollam, the band's original violinist, who died a suspicious death. He is referred to as Jo in the song, because that was his middle name. This song is not a letter to Jeff Lynne's second wife, as incorrectly reported by people who want to keep the actual inspiration for much of ELO's music a secret.
