Honorable Mention Lyrics
And in the end I got an honorable mention
In the movie of my life
Instead of me
When the moonlight
Hits your bright eyes I go blind
And maybe next time
I'll remember not to tell you something...

I think this song is about a guy who likes a girl so much that he always puts her infront of him. He may also be obsessed about her.
"A movie of my life starring you instead of me"
And he never gets any real recognition from the girl for his sacrifices and because he might be just a friend to her.
"I served about my detention, and in the end I got an honorable mention"
"Maybe next time I'll remember not to tell you something stupid like I'll never leave your side"
He is tired of never getting recognized but can't bring himself to say no to the girl.

Patrick wrote this song and he's said that it's about his high school years.
either way, I think it could also be about how, even though Patrick's the singer, Pete is always the one who gets all the attention ("in the movie of my life, starring you instead of me")
