Gold Dust Woman Lyrics

Rock on- gold dust woman
Take your silver spoon
And dig your grave

Heartless challenge
Pick your path and Ill pray

Wake up in the morning
See your sunrise- loves- to go down
Lousy lovers- pick their prey
But they never cry out...

I believe this song is written about Stevie Nicks struggling with cocaine the first line "Rock on gold dust woman take your silver spoon and dig your grave" refers to the expression that someone who is well off with money is born with a silver spoon. Stevie, at the height of Fleetwood Mac's career as the Rumours album was being made and the band having several relationship issues Stevie was very well off with money and very into cocaine, therefor she felt that she was digging her own grave with the silver spoon Fleetwood Mac had given her. Later on in the song comes this line "did she make you cry make you break down and shatter you illusions of love, is it over now do you know how to pick up the pieces and go home" I think the "she" is cocaine. Gold Dust Woman is a great song and one of my favorite Fleetwood Mac songs of all time.
