Clint Eastwood Lyrics

I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad
I got sunshine, in a bag
I'm useless,but not for long
The future is coming on
I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad
I got sunshine, in a bag
I'm useless, but not for long
The future is coming on
It's coming...

"sunshine in a bag" i think that refers to some type of drug and the rest is just lack of motivation and you sloweley dying. once del starts rapping that represents your inner vice trying to stop you from doinng these things...

I personally think its all about schizophrenia or a psychosis like mental illness. look through the lyrics and anyone with some sence can pick that up (not saying that everyone else is wrong) I think the song is about russle nd his possile illness, in most of the songs Del always seems to come out of russle, as another pesonality. I know when i get really high or just even when im sober I get voices that talk alot like del in this song, as a guide and a technition to repair anything i somehow screwed up with myself :) thats only my personal veiw tho.

Okay, if any of you guys have seen one of Clint Eastwood's movies (can't remember which one) but at the end he has gold in a bag. The gold is equal to 'Sunshine' ..Get it now?

Sunshine in a bag = Gold in a bag

..So, yeah, it does not mean drugs, dammit.

I think the song is more literal than spiritual or about drugs. Saying he has "sunshine in a bag" could mean exactly that. He actually has sunshine in a bag. This makes sense because he says he's useless right now, but the future is coming. The future is dark so although he may be useless right now, in the future his bag of sunshine will light up the world once again...

Personally I think "Sunshine in a bag" refers to Sunshine tea. Which is also mentioned in Damon's song "A Rappy Song" from his solo album Democrazy. The lyric "drinking all the sunshine tea" can be heard. Damon has used lyrics/beats from this solo album a few times on Gorillaz songs, biggest example being "I need a gun" which was later used for "Dirty Harry" on Demon Days. Sunshine tea is supposed to help depression. "I aint happy,Feeling glad, I got Sunshine in a bag"..tea bag..He's not happy so he's drinking Sunshine tea, it's also supposed to give energy, so "I'm useless, but not for long" .. Just kinda works.

    1*Yeah, ha ha.
2*Finally someone let me out of my cage.
3*Now time for me is nothing 'cause I'm counting no age.
4*No, I couldn't be there. No, you shouldn't be scared.
5*I'm good at repairs and I'm under each snare.
6*Intangible, bet you didn't think, so I command you to.
7*Panoramic view, look I'll make it all manageable.
8*Pick and choose, sit and lose, all you different crews.
9*Chicks and dudes, who you think is really kicking tunes?
10*Picture you getting down in a picture tube,
    11*Like you lit the fuse.
12*You think it's fictional? Mystical, maybe.
13*Spiritual hero who appears in you to clear your view when you're too crazy.
14*Lifeless, to those the definition for what life is.
15*Priceless to you because I put you on the hype shit.
    ------------------------------------------------------------
    /////////////////////translation\\\\\\\
    ------------------------------------------------------------
    1*Yeah, ha ha
2*The awareness (deeper conciousness) has finally come to life/awaken
3*time is just an illusion as feelings can't really age
4*Is this really true? Yes, and don't be scared.
5*The awareness is good to repair thoughts in the mind and everything is linked
6*Intangible, bet you didn't think but you are doing it already now anyhow
7*Panoramic view, how our reality has been mapped out by thoughts and feelings in the physical world.
8*Pick and choose how you wish to use your mind to create your own reality, every one picks their own specific path at own choice
9*chicks and dudes, it is you who are making the music, as others making it is just an illusion
10*example: understand what goes on in a picture tube, how all these signals are converted into what we self see with the eye, amazing
11*Like your mind is the real fuse
12*It might be hard to belive at the time. Mystical? Depends your awareness.
13*At a point your consciousness will let you know how it all fits together.
14*To those the definition for what life is lifeless
15*Priceless since I remind- and make you even more aware of whats really going on

"I got sunshine in a bag"

that doesn't mean drugs dumb asses. In an interview they said that it was about clint Eastwood's character in a movie where he runs away with a bag full of money. everything else can be interpreted in one of their lines " you don't see with your eyes, you perceive with your mind " meaning that nothing you see might not be real because what you see is what your brain takes of all the colors you see with your eyes and you could just be imagining all of this in your head. all other lyrics also mean nothing is what it seems. Thin about it dumb shit.

The whole song is based off of Clint Eastwood and the good bad and the ugly.

Though some speculation is involved with drugs, as 2-D was on painkillers for his eyes.

    So it goes both ways.

    THIS IS NOT ABOUT DRUGS

he video and song name is a reference to the famous western starring actor Clint Eastwood, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. The yell from the film's theme song can be heard at the beginning of the video. Closeups of the bandmember's faces are featured throughout the video, something that is used often in spaghetti westerns. Midway through the film, Del summons a graveyard from the ground, which is a reference to the ending of The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Although often mistaken for referring to drugs such as marijuana, LSD, or mushrooms, the song's famous chorus, "I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad. I got sunshine in a bag", is actually a reference to the money in the bag Clint Eastwood's character rides off with at the end of the film.

This song is all about being stoned.

    Notice that the chorus is,

I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad (He is not happy that he has a drug problem)
I've got sunshine in a bag (Uhhhh... I'll give you a clue. Its green, crystally, and its called California Sunshine)
I'm uselss, but not for long (He's so high, he can't even function)
The future is coming on (When he is inebriated as such, he can only sit back and watch time pass)

I'm not going into depth with Del's part, but there are obvious references.

Gun's Smoking, Rightous with one 'tokin (Shotgun's smoking, one toking, a slang term for someone smoking)

Yall can see me now cause you don't see with your eyes, you perceive with your mind (When high, you don't rely on visual signals as much, and you are much more open to interpritation of many subjects, IE, religion, nature, etc)

Also notice that in a section of the song you can hear Del inhale, and this is a small sample made famous by most Bob Marley songs. It can also be found in "Don't Worry Be Happy" for instance.

As many people have hinted on, I believe the chorus refers to weed, and many of the other lyrics are about how smoking weed can help you see your reality more clearly.

More lyrics that lead me to believe this:
"Bet you didn't think so I command you to,
Panoramic view, look I'll make it all managable."
"A hero that appears in you to clear your view when you're too crazy. Lifeless; to know the definition for what life is. Priceless to you because I put you on this hype shit"

And the end of the last verse as a whole, refering to the illegality of weed and the ignorance of the govmt:
"I brought all this so you could survive when law is lawless. Fearless, sensations that you thought was dead, no squealing; remember that it's all in your head."

Many people, as I have in the past, use weed to escape their problems. Others use it to deal with them. And I think this song is about both of them. And ultimately, it's a metaphor for life: Do what you will with your time, but it's not gonna last forever.

I can't believe no one got this one yet. Its about 2d having a bad trip (I aint happy, I'm feeling glad" Means he's having a bad trip - aint happy, but feeling glad - but hes high. Del is trying to talk him through the bad trip, and remind him its all in his head. If you ever did acid, you would know 100% this is what he is talking about. "Feelings, sensations that you thought were dead" That is exactly what I said on my first trip

Despite what you all say or think, the song as with most of it's kind is open to personal interpretation and therefore all of your "interpretations" are moot. That's the mark of really good lyrics.

Sunshine in a bag + Clint Eastwood is a fairly obvious connection although depending on your part of the world, Sunshine could refer to Coke, Heroin, Acid or LSD. Being with the backstory of the band 2d is more than likely singing about some type of drug, be it prescription or not.

And remember kids, opinions are like assholes, everybody's got em and they all stink.
