Song Released: 2013
Roar Lyrics
Scared to rock the boat and make a mess
So I sat quietly, agreed politely
I guess that I forgot I had a choice
I let you push me past the breaking point
I stood for nothing, so I fell for...

It embodies the idea of growing up and having the right to speak up. It expresses the awakening of confidence in a teenager's life and encourages us to feel inspired and stand up to others. Like others have said, it relates to bullying.

Simply put, "Roar" is talking about standing up for yourself. We shouldn't stay quiet about things and hold in how we feel, we should roar, or stand up for ourselves and be heard. That way, we will be floating like a butterfly, being free.

I believe the lyrics mean that you can't keep quiet about how you feel or your views for the sake of others. Speak your truth.
Also you can't depend on others to make your dreams turn to reality. Only you can do this. Maybe she had nobody believing her dreams as strongly as what she did and this is why she turn from "zero" to her "own hero". -

What do the words mean? Like I don't understand what they mean. How am I supposed to understand the songs if I don't know what the word means.

Roar gives the idea of confidence. Of growing and gathering confidence. In the song Katy grows more and more confident then shouting her voice and overcoming challenges.

Someone who is a "human" is bullied by a "lion" and finds a way to prove themselves by "roaring" and proves that everyone is worth something, "human" or not.

I think Katy has the best singing voice of ever seen but I’ve been writing this empowering song to my favorite artists and single ladies, and I also write about empowering musicians like Shakira, Taylor swift, Jana Kramer, Alison Krause, they have lot of empowering and they also have fashion because I took fashion class with a friend who is older than me, his name is Jeremy, and so he and I are great friends, we talk a lot on Facebook it’s nice to talk to Jeremy he’s single, but he doesn’t have a girlfriend.

I think that katy perry was bullied when she was a kid, and how now she has the courage to stand up to them and isn't afraid to tell other people she is being bullied. Why do u think the first line is "I used to bite my tongue and hold my breath"?
Anyways, this song could be about a number of things, but that is my best guess -

Let me make up a conspiracy theory. Tiger represents Asian while Lion is Christianity, the Western Civilization. Notice that Katy has a tattoo on her right wrist with the name of "Jesus" which is shown at the begging when she's still in the crashed plane and then she stretches like she just woke up. The ruined plane means the end of Christianity, and now she's ready to try a new world where she will eventually be the queen. If you enable "Autoplay" on YouTube, the next video will always be "Awake".
