I am indian.So i dont know much english.But i think that this song make a person serious to think wrong that he/she did who wants help of everyone with whom he/she has done wrong in his/her last time.He/she feels so alone that he can't bear it.
Starting music is really serious.
I like it because Linkin park made this in space. -
This song has the following meaning in my opinion, seeing as I'm kinda in this same state of mind myself, I went through with a bad breakup, and well i feel that I did so much wrong that nobody would miss me if I were to die, because of depression, I think that's what this song is about, the person sings of dreaming that he was missing, and only one person was scared, who that could be is up to you, it matches a lot of people in many ways, it's just perception

This song is about someone who choses to leave someone who "loves" in favour of finding himself. All these excuses is because he feels humiliation to admit that he or she didnt truly love the other person and he is trying to tell it in a way that will not have to say "i dont love you". Well in any case the real tragic person is not the singer but the listener. The one that has been left behind. Thats the true hero. The one who leaves is the mentally sick who needs to find himself. If he comes back ever its because he changed. But he is never forgiven even if he asks so politely. The bad things are exorcised only with love. Not with running away from problems.

I think this song is about a person who tries to be a good person, but their problems get the best of them and they havent always done the right choices. And so when he dies he wants his family and friends to remember the good things he did and just forget about the bad things he's done. -
I believe that the deeper meaning of this song is that you can't be all that is expected of you. Since birth, you're filled with dreams of others on your shoulders, of having a life of your own, of being a role model to others, of being like one of your parents. All of those expectations create a social pressure in anyone because it is thought that you can be something greater than them. You can only be yourself, whether it makes people happy or not in the long run.
It's a story of someone who has broken all expectations and knew that there would always be one who would care about what happened even if it wasn't bluntly shown as well as keeping high expectations for him or her and became disappointed that him or her never reached what was thought that they were able to achieve. It maybe a bad relationship between a father and a son or something of the like. He or she wants them to forget the bad moments they had together and wants them to remember them for what they gave them positively. And share the positive thoughts and leave behind the useless or negative memories.
I can relate to the story that I just portrayed for the fact that I have been struggling trying to please my family and be happy at the same time. They have other plans for me, but I can only follow the rail I'm supposed to go. -

before the dream, they didnt care and they were happy for leaving, but after the dream, they realized how many people would miss them no matter how much wrong they did.the chorus basically tells the people to forget what they did and forgive them, and think of the good they did. -
Now I could be completely wrong but I believe this guy one night was sleeping/dreaming, he dreamed he went missing and couldn't be found... possibly dead. And his girlfriend/wife/ or really close friend was the only one who noticed he was missing. And this person was so scared and could not get anyone to care. Then he wakes after having a revelation that he needs to change if he wants anyone to remember him. And like just about anyone he wants to be remembered for good things not the bad. And I believe that about anyone can relate to this song. Really great song.

Overall I think this song is about a king who use to be good but turned evil and murderous from the hunger of power. He is in love with a girl who use to love him but is slowly giving up on him because he is bad. BUT...thats just my opinion lol cause this song seems to maybe have different interpertations -
I love music! All these interpretations....A song 's meaning is strictly up to the listener. When I first heard this song, it made me think about my kids and how many mistakes I have and will make. Hopefully they will remember me for the good things I've done.
Now I think it has a lot to do with relationships in general. Recently, my son's friend committed suicide. On my way home from the funeral, I played this song and it it fit this kid exactly. I like the song and as music goes, I think it will move anyone to believe it fits their specific circumstances at the time. That's all for my dime....me : ) -
I always thought of this song as saying "I'm not at all in any social popularity, and I'm not acknowledged, so when I die, I feel like noone will remember me because I was never known for anything", and that he wants to be remembered for something, anything, which brings me to a favorite quote of mine: To be Forgotten is Worse than Death.

I agree with alot of them but i mostly agree with fastfordfocus but I don't think that's the bad thing he did maybe killed someone or something like that. I think the real point he trying to tell us is that when he's gone remember him how he wanted to be not how he was.remebering him as how much he wanted to be a better person instead of being the bad person that he was.

I think fastfordfocous is partially right, but it isn't just about that one issue. It could be anything, or multiple things, he did wrong. He just wants to move on, to get over the hurdle, and wants to be reassured people will remember him for something other then the bad things he'd done when he dies.

to me, now keep in mind that this is just what i think, is about death. But not like someone just died. But its more the what if factor. Kinda teaches you that you dont know what you have till its gone. A life lesson. And the way this is depicted it through him wondering what it would be like to be gone. Would anyone miss him? Will anyone care?
I never knew about this song until one day my dad decided to sing it to me at the grocery store. He was trying to tell me that the lyrics have such a deep meaning. And so in the middle of the store he recited the lyrics with a few missing words. lol. And like a lot of things he use to say, i blew it off. But two days later, my father passed away. And i sat down and listened to the song. And realized that he was right. And its as though this song was his message to me.

"When my time comes Forget the wrong that I've done Help me leave behind some Reasons to be missed" (He WANTS to leave a legacy with her, but he's not ready).
They have both hurt each other and he has learned how to be tough, but its just a mask:
