Linkin Park: Numb/Encore Meaning
Song Released: 2004
Numb/Encore Lyrics
-
It's about when he was raped. That's why he took his own life. Listen to the lyrics people.

I think song song is about a similar relationship as "In the End", it's about an abusive relationship and how it affects him.
He's trying hard to please her and love her but since she's abusive, he can never seem to do the right thing. He's trying so hard to be what he thinks she wants that he's losing his own identity, something that he regrets.
It seems he was attracted to this person because he can relate to her somehow, that he used to be like her. It's because they both understand being in abusive relationships.
In this case he's being dominated by her.
I would also look up "In the End" because I think it's about the same person, where he talks about how he tried so hard to make it work but all his efforts were in vain, and he wasted a lot of time and dropped the rest of his life.
