Habit Lyrics
I told you that, so what did you expect from me?
It shouldn't come as no surprise anymore
I know you said that you'd give me another chance
But you and I knew the truth of it in advance
That...

The first verse refers to Harry, and the management overall. Modest! made Louis hide his sexuality from the world, trying to keep the image of a perfect 'straight' boy band, because they wanted their fanbase (which is over 80% female) to think they had a chance with at least one of the boys. In mid 2013 Larry stopped being as close as they used to be, and many of the fans suspect that they were in a relationship, causing the management to force them apart. In my opinion, I think that Modest! thought that Larry were giving too many hints, and the eagle-eyed fans caught right onto it. I think this is what Louis means by 'messing up'.
Larry were probably given a few chances in the beginning, which I think is the meaning of the second verse. It can also refer to Harry, idk, believe what you will believe.
The last verse, and the ending of the stanza, refers to the fact that this was very emotionally and mentally harming to both Harry and Louis.
[Never thought that giving up would be this hard
God, I'm missing you and your addictive heart.]
Sorry, but this just screams Harry Styles to me.
[You're the habit that I can't break
You're the feeling I can't put down
You're the shiver that I can't shake
You're the habit that I can't break
You're the high that I need right now
You're the habit that I can't break.]
This stanza can refer to One Direction as a whole, but sorry it still screams Larry to me.
[I took some time 'cause I've ran out of energy
Of playing someone I heard I'm supposed to be
But honestly, I don't have to choose anymore.]
This is honestly the most heartbreaking stanza to me. It again implies to the fact that Louis is tired of being someone he isn't. Louis is perfect the way he is, and about being gay, it's the freaking 21st century, people! No one cares about your sexuality anymore! You can be whoever the f*ck you want and love whoever the f*ck you want! Louis is right that he doesn't have to choose anymore, and I'm honestly so proud of him.
[And it's been ages, different stages
Come so far from Princess Park
I'll always need ya
In front of me, in front of me.]
This is the most obvious Larry reference in the entire song. 'Princess Park' refers to when Larry lived together.
[You gave me the time and the space
I was out of control, and I'm sorry I let you down.
Guess that I know what I already knew
I was better with you and I miss you now.]
This in my opinion, refers to Larry's relationship. This song shows how much Louis has grown in the past few years -

#2 top rated interpretation:The song refers to beautiful Harry. The eyes never lie. You are the love of his life. There is a sadness behind his eyes without you. You only get one Life so spend it with true love. You are the most beautiful couple and are breaking a millions hearts because you are not together.
Be true to who you are. You both belong with each other as in my 6 decades I have never seen the love you both ooze when near each other. Breathtaking. Love to you both please be happy as life is so short. -

#3 top rated interpretation:This is just for the second verse because I dont have time to cover the entire song: The lyric "I took some time cause I ran out of energy of playing someone I heard I'm supposed to be but honestly I dont have to choose anymore" is implying the days when he was in 1D and he was controlled by management and always told how to look/behave and saying that the band could possibly have broke up because they were tired and fed up of being controlled all the time and not being able to show their true selves but now they can. Then the next line: "It's been ages, different stages" can be interpreted in two different ways, that its different stages of their life/friendship or relationship yet another way this can be interpreted is as if stages is referring to actual stages like when they would tour as a band. Then we come to the most well known line of this song, "Come so far from Princess Park" - Now it is a well known fact that Louis and Harry used to live together at Princess Park Manor back in 2011 which is why this line is so loud to larries and directioners but also we never expected louis to be this loud with one of his songs as this is louder than any of Harry's songs so it took us by surprise. This line also gives us so many Larry flashbacks like the Chicken stuffed with mozzarella wrapped in parma ham with homemade mash on the side!

I love this song so much!
I would honestly not be surprised if Louis made it official that the song was about Harry. I mean "Come so far from Princess Park." That is little to obvious isn't it ;) -
Larries take the crown with this one, honestly. Antis can try as hard as possible but there is no heterosexual explanation of this.
-
How can you think this isn't about Harry. I would like antis so explain this one. I'll even unlarry if you do. But no ❤️. Try again loves.

i think this song is about harry.
he said: "I took some time 'cause I've ran out of energy
Of playing someone I heard I'm supposed to be"
he has shown in many of his mv that he had to wear a mask, aka be someone who he didnt want to be.now we can all take that in different interpretations but if you know what im thinking,, good job ahha. its no mystery simon and the management controlled them horribly, and it has something to do with that for sure.
lets talk about another lyric:
"And it's been ages, different stages
Come so far from Princess Park"
hes literally spelling it out!! -

I do not agree:
“This song could be about his music career. He has come so far since starting the career while living at Princess Park.
The line 'its been ages different stages' might be about all that has happened as he grew up through the years.
He almost quit after One Direction but singing is the habit he couldn't break.“
Guys he sings YOU’RE the habit, that I can’t break. This is not about a thing, it’s about Harry. Don’t even try to convince me otherwise.
And it’s been ages (it literally has) different stages (in their relationship) come so far from PRINCESS PARK -
so basically before you antis come and attack me Harry is the habit that Lou can’t break. like ‘come so far from Princess Park’ they lived together in princess park.
-
'Come so far from Princess Park' Harry and Louis used to live together in a building called Princess Park.

okay so i’m not one of those people that think every song by louis and harry are about each other, but you can not convince me that this song is not about harry. I mean, like he mentions princess park, and that’s where they used to live together. idk but i genuinely think it’s about harry.
