   Sounds to me like a Parent telling their child to sleep say their prayers, and that they will tuck them in till death come (the sandman). And the child has a nightmare of wars, liars, and dragon's fire. Wakes and says another prayer (now I lay me down to sleep) And once again the parent reassures the child. It sounds like a memory.

   In my opinion this song deals with the novel "the sandman" or whatever the english name of this book is by E.T.A. Hoffmann where the sandman is presented as a horrible creature which smashes the eyes of children who don't want to sleep with sand.

   I don't know if you've ever seen the music video but it's about this Freddy Krueger like fellow who fell out a window and wants to kill this small child saying his prayers before he goes to sleep. apparently the kid doesn't notice him because he doesn't turn around or anything. I could be wrong because it's constantly flashing and it would give you an epileptic seizure if you watch it too much but that's my way of thinking.
