Sing Lyrics

Sing it out,
Boy you got to sing what tomorrow brings
Sing it out,
Girl you got to be what tomorrow needs

For every time that they want to count you out
Use your voice
Every single time you open up your mouth

Sing it for the boys, sing...

This song (a very awesome song) means to me that....In the world today...the only way to get s*it done is by rasing your voice and to make sure its heard...also just because someone has a disibilty donst mean that they cant do something> "sing it to the deaf sing it to the blind"

To me, this song really hits me as, "Don't give up, you have to be what tomorrow needs." It's also a rebellious song, saying you need to "use your voice, and sing it for the world" and not listen to the selfish leaders trying to rule it (ex: BL/ind). And the little chant closer to the end, "Cleaned up, corporation progress..." Tells me be what you want to be, not what THEY want you to be. That's all.
    Love, an unnamed Killjoy.

I never really realized the true meaning of this song until I actually saw the lyrics for myself. This song talks about the evil in corporations and how "they're gonna sell what tomorrow needs". This song was actually featured on the Glenn Beck program, after its appearance on the show "Glee". He talked about how it was propaganda, and how its mocking conservatives with phrases like "Talk about the past sir".
I then realized why I don't watch him often anymore, and its because hes propaganda himself. You can express your opinion, and you can give your side of the story, but when you exaggerate to the point where your an obvious hypocrite, you have gone way to far.
I still might not agree with the meaning of the song I get from the lyrics, but I do agree with the fact that's its a kick ass song, fun to listen to, and has a lot of passion infused in it. Music is about expressing your views and emotions, and I respect My Chemical Romance for doing so, left or right, up or down, I don't care, its all music to me.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

We have to admit that nowadays, the young people are very weak. Youth were just busy doing their virtual world with all its contents. how do you know stuff inside it lead you to the appropriate direction?

In the past, people would very busy to think about any humanitarian issues and fight for that. Nowadays, people were just too busy to do their own things and enjoy their own world created by the media. People are just too busy walking down the stree by listening to the music in their headset, people are jsut too busy with their cellphones with any stuff inside. With or without our consent, we have given our own freedom to be the slave of stuff which are trashes, when it controls us. It's bad to find out that we're in a jail, but it's worst when people do not realize that they were in jails.

I think that's what this song means.

In the music video, the band members were trying to save a child from a corporation called "Better Living Industries" aka "BL/ind" which, if you look at it, spells BLIND, which is what the people with the masks are. Blind of what their leader is gonna do to the child (which stands for the future generation). they have lingos saying "Building a Better You", "We Can Fix You", "The Aftermath is Secondary", "Everything is Perfect. Keep Smiling", etc., saying that the business is more concerned with changing the future than how it will negatively affect everything that already exists. Also, the bad guys that wear masks also means that they have conformed to the leaders standards, leaving them with no individuality what-so-ever. The lyrics are basically about standing up for those who can't, like the child. Even if that means you lose your life (which is what happens to the band members in the video). Be the savior of the future. Don't conform to "The Man" and his ideas. Even if people hate you for what your doing. Break free of the status quo. People should be themselves and "sing" for what they believe, instead of following the expectations put on them by the past generation that leaves limitations on their potential individuality.

When I first heard this song, I had to instantly hit replay and listen to this again and again. this song is amazing and so inspirational. what it means to me, is that people in this world aren't going to care about you and what you have to say, they're only going to care about themselves. But this tells us that we can't give up, and let those people win! We have to stand as a voice above the noise, and lead others in the right direction. otherwise, who will? then in the last part of the song, gerard's "chant", I believe means this: we are cleaning up our world, and we can't quit until the job is done, even if we're dying or being hurt in the process, because this is not going to affect us later, but our children, and our children's children, and so on. And if we really care about those people in our life, we will fight for them until the day we die. We can never give up, and we must never lose hope. We have to buy ourselves inspiration, through the tiniest acts of compassion and hope, and we must never conform, because if we do, we're basically giving up. This song is about standing up for what you believe in and I truly find it inspirational. Props to you my chemical romance.

I think this song basically states that we need to speak of what we need to speak out for. I also think it is about how we need to be ready for the future. Love this song so much!

I love this song: it's definitely for not being pushed down by people who think they're better, or who just refuse to listen. It's really motivating, something that I think MCR love to put in their songs: that you should be as loud, metaphorically, as you can, if you know what's right. It's showing that the kids of today know what the adults don't, like pre-WW1 with the insane social divides and the adults being oblivious to the events that children knew would occur. They haven't learnt anything; MCR are saying it's our responsibility and we have to not care about being shut out, we have to sing for those who can't, and we have to DO SOMETHING, FIGHT FOR IT. Thankyou MCR!!!

Judging by the lyrics and music video, I saw it more as an Anti-Corporation song. I also agree with everyone who is saying that another idea is that everyone needs to stand up for what they believe and make a difference in the world.

I can't say everything line that supports this idea, but I'll mention a few:

"Aftermath is secondary" - this was shown at the beginning of the music video; shows the idea that corporations aren't really caring about the world, just about making their money for today.

"Girl you got to be what tomorrow needs" - lets be the change for tomorrow

"...they're gonna sell what tomorrow needs" - the idea that corporations are going to get so much power that they can sell whatever they want

    "Cleaned up corporation progress
Dying in the process" -this shows how much effort would be needed to clean up the mess of corporations globally

"Sell it till your last days
Buy yourself the motivation!" - shows how messed up society has become due to the influence of corporations to sell and buy stuff till the end of your days.

I hope my ideas aren't too far off, and I hope you all like my explanation!

Of course the illuminati exist. They have been in control for centuries. Not believing the illuminati is like not believing God. It's right infront of your face, but you turn away.

    destroy the illuminati.

To whomever posted about Dan Brown and the illuminati being fiction, have you educated yourself any further than the fictional stories of Mr. Brown? You're right; he's not a reliable, creditable resource to quote from, but that's doesn't negate the existence of an illuminati group or its presence and power in our government, specifically the American government.

Part of a song's magic is that it can have a different meaning for everyone. Whether its about the illuminati and government control, or a basic encouragement that we all stand up for what we believe in, no one is wrong or right in their understanding. It's personal, universal.

I think this song is about believing in yourself and believing in your opinion, not letting anyone change your mind. It's saying that everytime someone wants to stop your opinion being heard, just say it louder. Do it for yourself, do for those around you. As they move into the last verse, he sings "I am not the singer that you wanted..." I think this refers to The Black Parade era. People may have wanted their music to stay the same but they didn't want a certain group liking their music, they wanted everybody and anybody to like it. People turned dark and suicidal over that era and previous ones suggesting they endorse death and suicide. But they instead, are not like that and have written this for the ones that want to leave that behind and move forward. He doesn't want to think about his alcoholic past or anything like that. Finally ends with the chorus again stating, do what you believe, say what you want and sing it for everybody even if they end up hating you, you still did what you belived in.

I (being the person who wrote the first interpretation) agree with the 2 after me about rappers and shit music and such, and about some of the stuff about the government, but with less of a liberal meaning. That is sort of true about the song speaking about the government, but I would mostly make it talk about all the liberals in the house today and all there liberal, socialism shit that points to communism and such. That's what they're basically trying to do, and people gotta speak against their crap, and I don't know exactly if that's what they meant by this song, but that's how I get the meaning.

Regardless of what the 2 people have said below me, they are somewhat right but this song speaks against the government and illuminati leaders... hence "boy u need to see what tomoro brings, girl you need to be what tomoro needs" theyre telling us to take action as people to stop these evil bankers and crooks running our country, they run any type of media imaginable, education and politics, 3 main things they have to control us.
"Boy, they're gonna sell what tomorrow needs
    Sing it out,
Girl, they're gonna kill what tomorrow brings
You've got to make a choice,
If the music drowns you out.
    And raise your voice,
Every single time they try and shut your mouth" <----here theyre saying they sell drugs not needed for cures, theyres natural cures for cancer, aids , herpes, everything! theyre gonna kill our trees, natural resources and they try to stop infuential people in todays media spreading goodwill in their songs...such as micheal jackson(They dont care about you),System of a down(not on mainstream tv since byob) and LOTS MORE! these are only 2 of many, ill also mention tupac, went fro mthug lfie to being a 'poet' and wanted to start a revolution, soon fter he got shot, same with JFK... WAKE UP! theyre are good song meanings people mis interpret, and bad ones that talk only about sex, drugs getting wasted...literally thats all you hear today no wonder why these new artists and rappers stick to auto tune techno and shit music...
