    This song is about a girl or a good friend.when Gerad sings "When they..", I wonder who is "they?". The first impresion I get is that "they" are the police.Just an impulse thought.
    
    When the sun comes up may be when the inevitable happens, like getting caught or being in an accident,due to being in trouble,like a car chase.Something that isn't reversable The lyrics "Where they can pump this venom gaping hole
    And you must keep your soul like a secret in your throat," may imply, for example, if there was an accident that the girl/good friend will keep how it happened a secret.
    
    What happened isn't hinted at all in the song. Gerad is trying to protect whomever the event is about
