The person(the girl) who was loved by her murderer betrayed him..or she let him believe that she was in love with him too("es hatte den Schein, sie spielte fuer mich allein",it seemed, she played just for me)while she wasn't.So he killed her("ich goss ihr Blut, ins Feuer meiner Wut") and closed the door of the room where the piano was. In the first stanza the parents ask the boy to open the door(and there he begins to tell the story) and in the last, when they find out what happened to their daughter...he sort of"confess". He's sick from the smell and regret. I don't know if I'm right, but that's what I understood :)(and sometimes German is not easy at all, at least for me :( )
