Song Released: 2012
Shine bright like a diamond
Find light in the beautiful sea
I choose to be happy
You and I, you and I
We’re like diamonds in the sky
You’re a shooting star I see
A vision of ecstasy
When you hold me, I’m...

This song is about her relationship with Chris Brown. This is not the first time she has referred to herself and Brown as "diamonds" as she did so in the Calvin Harris song We Found Love when she referred to them as "yellow diamonds in the light", another song obviously about Brown. Rihanna is telling Chris to shine bright in his fame. Her emotions are as deep as the sea, and after all the pain she has through with him she still found her light and chooses to be happy by keeping a friendly relationship with Chris Brown despite all the strong opinions the media voices about her decision to remain in contact with him. Her referring to him as a "vision of ecstasy" is a play on the words as it is no secret she and Brown partook in the recreational use of the drug together as was seen in her video for We Found Love. When he holds her she feels more alive and they both are shining like diamonds or stars in the sky. She knew right away that they would connect and that this connection would be deeper than any love she has ever felt. She wants them to just go on loving each other tonight and to be on the same page with that love, eye to eye, in the way they feel and make love with each other. Moonshine and Molly are drugs. Moonshine is a type of very strong liquor that is homemade in the South and Molly is a street-name for the drug ecstasy. They are doing these drugs together and dancing, arms up with palms in the sky, to the universe. Under the influence of these drugs they feel as though they are stronger and better than when on their own, without drugs or each other so she wants them to continue to do what it takes to shine like a star, or, in Rihanna's and Chris' case, a superstar on the planet. Superstars on the planet eventually die and are forgotten, they will never be as immortal as a shooting star in the sky, as Rihanna hopes. That's just my thoughts.

I'm just gonna concentrate on two lines from this song - 1) "Find light in the beautiful sea." Reading from the Bible in Ezekiel 28:3 JEHOVAH was talking about Lucifer to Ezekiel when HE said, "You think you are God sitting on the throne of a god on your island in the midst of the seas." Now taking "light" from the line in her song, we also know that the name Lucifer means "light bearer", so this 'simple' statement from Rihanna means that she has found Satan/Lucifer and she sees 'eye-to-eye' with him and they're beautiful, also remembering that Lucifer was created as an exceedingly beautiful creature. 2) "You're a shooting star I see." Also from the Holy Bible, in Luke 10:18, Jesus Christ was talking to His disciples when He told them that He saw Satan fall from Heaven like a flash of lightning - self-explanatory really. They are much more hidden connotations in this song it's scary - Rihanna, what have you done? It's not too late, GOD can save you!

I think it's about beauty.

I think many are wrong when interpreting this song as just a drug related song. I see this song as totally different meaning. I believe it is about universal energy bringing two people together. One person is infatuated with another...feeling instant attraction but the other person is lifeless, depressed and does not know the other one is there yet. There is a part in her video where the horse comes to another horse laying lifeless on the ground and the other once presence and energy brings the other horse to life again. Beautiful scene! So it is not just about drugs and alcohol; it is more about two people coming together and becoming inseparable with the help of "universe". And going beyond this life even after it ends here. "We are beautiful like diamonds in the sky". Sia wrote the song and her songs always have positive messages of resurrection and "second chances". This is more of a love song of one helping the other come to life and happiness together.

Please realize that this song is written by SIA THE ALMIGHTY SINGER THAT WE UNDERESTAMATE. Rihanna does sing it, but this website should realize that it's SIA'S SONG.

Those saying they hear shine bright like demons try to say the word diamonds 10 times non stop or else produce your own phonetic pronunciation.

i hear as if she says shine bright like a demon but she can change for the Lord and use her talent and beauty to praise God

There are people who do sinful things, but they aren't necessarily trying to promote Satan (be illuminati). This is probably about a simple relationship with drugs. Yes, it's wrong, but is Rihanna purposely working with the devil? You can't call every sinful artist illuminati, esp based on two lines! It's not our right to judge her soul, though if you feel that singing about drugs is sinful, yes you can judge her actions. If you're on the fence about this song, don't listen to it. I first heard it when I didn't catch the drug references, but when I did I stopped listening. Now the video I haven't watched, but based on what I've read here, it's either about Satan or molly.
Bottom line, I'm not gonna read too far into it, but I still don't think the meaning is good, so I won't listen.

It is not about satan or Chris Brown, Rihanna didn't write this song, Sia did.

Song has nothing to do with Rihanna because it was written by Sia.

You guys are being foolish of yourselves.. Leave rihanna alone.. She is not talking about satan.. Its just a song.. Im christian and i dont see anything wrong with it.. What you are doing is making a big deal about it for no reason.. How about go pick on a different singer or LEAVE THEM ALONE! Is it bothering you? THEN DONT POST IT ON SOCIAL MEDIA! KEEP IT TO YOURSELF! think before you write something THAT IS NOT TRUE!

Yea I even feel like she sings it like, 'Shine bright like a demon'. That explains itself.

oh people please stop being so damn silly .
why do you like to relate all songs of Rihanna to Satan....
it's got nothing to do with that
this way that u're thinking , u can even find even in a pure Carrie Underwood's song !
see it's so funny
if u don't like Rihanna don't listen to her songs , there's no force ....
u're just gettin' used to find a satanic meaning in her songs no matter what she sings
I even was this way for a while after I first has read these interpretations and I saw that it only makes me feel uncomfortable...
let go of this way of thinking , and if U care so much about the unique God (who I do love) just go live your life as good human beings...
what gets to me from this song is just the state of being beautiful (inside) when u and your lover are together....
