California King Bed Lyrics
Nose to nose
Palm to palm
We were always just that close
Toe to toe
Lips that felt just like the inside of a rose
So how come when I reach out my finger
It feels like more than distance between...

The song describes two people that were very close at one point and now there is a distance. There has been a change now they cannot communicate like they once did leaving her helpless and unable to know where they stand. She is left reminiscing about the 'good times' as she wishes for him to change back to the man she loved. And as she is about to give up he turns into the man she loved and she is left clinging onto him. She is confused because she does not know if the man she has loved is there anymore? If they'll ever be the same? if he still loved her or has moved on? His changes and her insecurities define this song.

two people that are "seeing" each other, and the girl is confused about where they stand. he is very close to her, yet he is far at the same time. "ive been california wishing on these stars for your heart on me.."= she wishes that he would love her.
"so confused wanna ask you if you love me,but i dont wanna seem so weak"= shes confused about the situation they are in. does he love her? is he only using her? she wants to ask, yet she doesnt want to show a weakness. "just when i felt like giving up on us, you turned around and gave me one last touch, that made everything feel better and even then my eyes got wetter" = she was about to give up on him, because shes tired of waiting for him, since they have no type of relationship, he then does something that keeps her wanting more and keeps her from giving up, that made her feel better, but even then it hurt her because she knew they werent nothing more than just friends.

This song is about being in love with someone that doesn't feel the same. He reaches out to her at the last minute before she leaves him for good because he likes having her wanting him. She had never felt love so passionate. She gets him and he gets her but he wont commit. He is on the other side of the world to her. Her bed has never felt so big and lonely for when he slept in it- she slept on his chest and they never let each other go. My bed is missing it's Californian King. I could have written these lyrics.

California King Bed is about her love for a guy who she she has physical relationship with (sexual), but in my opinion she loved that man because (Chest to chest, Nose to nose, Palm to palm) shows that they were that close. Somehow things has changed and she suddenly wish (California wishing) = imagine it... wishing star she wants to make a wish and win his heart and have the old him back. Fighting for her love, she stopped after some things he's done and she felt like giving up. Communications wasn't like before, helpless romance he is (he's changing) and more distance she felt. She reminisce the good times that they've had and want the old him back. Her feelings clinging onto him, she feels confused and doesn't know where their relationship stands.

The literal meaning of this song is just the couple has a relationship but then the girl want's to talk to the boy that he really loves her. The couple in the past are so close too each other but then after they run away to each other. The girl every night wish that they were too close too each other and she want to be the only girl in the heart of the boy. The couple is having a break up because the boy is not really love her that she expect too. The girl want's too reach out everything just for the boy and she know that if she reach out her finger she will get hurt.

this song is about how close they are to each other (chest to chest, nose to nose) but yet so distant in their relationship. the california king bed is a metaphor of their life. although there by each other go on dates sleep in the same bed, there is no love, so really they are "far apart" spiritually and romantically

I think what she is saying is that she misses her guy and she feels 10,000 miles apart but they used to be so close, now there distant and she wants him back.

Although this song interpretation may sound superficial at first, I think that it's very legitimate:
This song is about two people who have a strictly physical relationship:
"Chest to chest
Nose to nose
Palm to palm"
These lines and a few other imply that Rihanna and the guy often sleep together.
The line, "We were always just that close," in my opinion, means that the two of them were never really closer than this physical relationship. In other words, they were physically close, but not emotionally close.
Obviously, though, she has legitimate emotional feelings for him, but she doesn't know how to express it because she doesn't "want to seem so weak," and she feels like there is a huge distance between them because although they are on the same page physically, they are "ten-thousand miles apart" emotionally.
At the end of the song, she says that "Maybe I've been California dreaming" because she was holding on to hope that he may love her back, but deep down she realizes that he doesn't love her in the same way that she loves him.

I think it's about being with someone but you're not sure if you love them. "So how come when I reach out my fingers/It feels like more than distance between us" It's saying there's more between them than they're showing to each other.

I think this song is about the awakening of a relationship death or realization from Rihanna. "When I reach out my fingers
It seems more than distance between us..." She's acknowledging that it is more then just physical distance, there not emotionally close as they used to be. The use of the word california in the last line of the chorus, "I've been california wishing on these stars for your heart for me,My california king" i think is meant to be a metaphor for hollywood. Kind of like someone underground trying to make it mainstream, She's been wishing, and has all these illusions, but he's her 'california king' like the celebritys we have crushes on but we know its never going to happen. It's the idea or reality vs. fanstasy/expectations.

I feel that the song is about two people that have/ had something together but the connection isnt showing the right results that should come. she is hurt because she is physically close to him but emotionally they have a long wway to go. near the end when she is making a decision to end her pain and their relationship he makes a decision to "show his affections"(she cries because she doesnt know if its true). but she still feels distant from him.

The meaning of this song is you just want one more day with the love of your life but he's gone and you'd give anything for him to come back but she also means I'm strong on my own. I'll have my days when I'm down and lonely and miss you but then shell realize it was the right idea xx.
