I love it when you just don't care
I love it when you dance like there's nobody there
So when it gets hard don't be afraid
We don't care what them people say
I love it when you don't take no
I love it when you do what you want cause you just...

"The song is basically about loving who you are as an individual," he said. "Lots of teenagers and people have trouble figuring out who they want to be, and we go through this stage where you feel like you don't really belong, like quite uncomfortable. 'Life Of The Party' is just saying, 'Don't freak out if you feel like you're different, love who you are'.

I think this song is saying how you love something about someone and you're telling them to just be them selves and have fun and be the life of the party basically (:

I think the song is about taking the chance to love someone and not to be afraid. It may seem scary because it's your first love or you like that person so much that you don't wanna do anything to hurt the relationship. Either way, take the plunge. It'll be worth it in the end if it's for the right person.

As a teenager, there are times where we don't feel like we fit in and anxiety surrounds us. But we must accept who we are and don't care about what people talk about you behind your back. We all should live the life of the party. Be the inspiration. Rise like a star

Basically this song is about being yourself. He's saying that everyone in this world is different and that's okay, that no one should take shame in being the individual they are, they should embrace it, and strive to continue to be yourself no matter the circumstance. He's encouraging all of the shy and self conscious people to come out of they're shell a little bit and push to show how great they can really be. Not everyones going to have a soulmate/otherhalf. So at the end of the day just we are all different, were all under the same sky, and we all love each other.

I think the song is basically about loving who you are and being okay with that. When your out in public don't be afraid to be yourself and don't care about what other people are going to say about you. Always be yourself no matter what the world thinks :) Such an inspirational song and it makes me feel happy everytime I listen to it

I believe this song is about a same-sex relationship and the difficulties that go along with it. Shawn seems to be reassuring his lover that even though "it might be scary" and "hearts are gonna break", they have each other and they have nothing to apologize for.

This one is about going after what you want. "Take your shot, it might be scary" means that even if it is terrifying to get involved with someone, life is about not regretting anything. It's better to try and not succeed than never try in the first place.

This song isn't about Shawn coming out, its about loving who you are, don't try to be one of those stereotypical people, because normal's boring. If the whole world becomes something where everyone is this stereotypical being, our whole world is gonna be really boring. Love who you are, don't care what people say, and if it means you are going to out yourself as lesbian, gay, bi, or trans, don't hold back because you're afraid what people say or think. Just be you and love yourself for who you are is what this song is saying.

"Come out tonight come out tonight, there's no one standing in your way, .... We don't care what them people say." this makes me think this song is related to Shawn telling himself to come out, as in being gay. I've been assuming he was for a while now, this gives me some more vibes that he is.

Depending on the context or the perspective of the individual. But this pretty much gives a clear explanation, even though it may break people's heart to be who you really instead of being something that's false, you become to accept the terms that being gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender. Even though being the life of the party or society is hard due to bad judgment of individuals like them. And not to mention he even included himself in the verse as if he vividly is feeling the same way about himself, and he loves the fact that those individuals can be themselves even if they watch them and speculate their motives and behavior he knows that there is something raw and real.....LOVE WILL ALWAYS WIN

This song is about telling somebody who normally very quiet or shy to be themselves and have fun get a little wild because you only live once. He's telling this person not to care if they get hate or is being bullied he's telling them to just let go and be themselves. He knows this person is a very lively person but their scared to be themselves he's telling them to be them and not care.

This song is definitely about the singer convincing someone to just be him or herself, which in this case is likely being out as a gay person. Someone who is gay finds it "scary" to come out, especially around people they know. Being out also means not caring what other negative things people say about it. Hearts are going to break when someone of the opposite sex (or parents, siblings, and friends) find out, and hearts are going to break when a move is made on a unsuspecting straight person of the same sex. Come out tonight, come out tonight!

I think this song is talking about a boy who's wishing his (now ex) girlfriend the best. He talks about all of her admirable qualities, and he loves their relationship, and how they go back and forth. He wants them to live their relationship, but more importantly their life how they want, and not care about what other people say. He doesn't want her to give up on their relationship because it's rocky, but in the mean time he wants her to continue being as beautiful as he sees her... My boyfriend dedicated this song to me and in our situation this makes sense to me

Honestly haven't heard it more the twice on the radio. I kind of am leaning in the direction of the person above me. A relationship in hard times, trying to hold on to the relationship.

I think that it is saying that as long as they have eachother nothing else matters, and that being themselves is the most important thing and to just not have no cares and worries by not letting people bring them down but rising above it and doing what they feel is right.

If you interpret the lyrics from the perspective of a gay lover singing to a less experienced one, it all makes sense. Specially the "come out tonight" part
